Together for Every Child’s First Step 🦶❤️

What an honor to be invited as Chief Guest for Daku Primary School’s ECE Week. A week that truly is “Together for Every Child’s First Step: Early Learning and Endless Possibilities.”
Yesterday, that first step was about protecting little hearts. Talking to our children, parents and teachers about Rheumatic Heart Disease reminded me why this work matters, because every child deserves the chance at endless possibilities, and that starts with a healthy heart.
RHD is preventable. Together, families, schools, communities,-we can identify it early, protect our little ones, and give them every first step they deserve.❤️❤️

Celebrating a milestone of purpose, perseverance, and leadership 🎓❤️

Heart Heroes Fiji proudly celebrates our Manager, Mrs. Erini Tokarua, on her graduation from University of the South Pacific last month.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners, Cure Kids, for supporting this educational journey and for continuing to strengthen Heart Heroes Fiji through investment in the professional development of our team.

Mrs. Tokarua’s journey is one of deep purpose. What began over 15 years ago as a mother’s response to her son’s Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) diagnosis has grown into a powerful legacy of advocacy and service. From raising awareness, to walking alongside individuals living with RHD, to becoming a strong voice for lived experience; her leadership has helped shape a movement. That journey led to the establishment of Heart Heroes Fiji, an organisation committed to ending RHD in Fiji.

This achievement is more than a personal milestone; it strengthens our collective mission. It positions us to serve our communities with greater capacity, deepen our partnerships, and continue working alongside governments and stakeholders toward a resilient, RHD-free future.

Congratulations, Mrs. Tokarua. We thank God for your journey and pray His continued blessings as you lead with strength, compassion, and vision. ❤️🙏

Heart Heroes Fiji has come a long way. 🌿❤️
Since formally establishing in November 2023, our journey has been rooted in advocacy, awareness, support groups, motivational counselling, defaulter tracing, and community outreach for people living with Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) across Fiji. What began as a local mission has now grown into something far greater than we ever imagined.
In partnership with Pacific RHD, that mission has now crossed our shores.
2 days. 1 mission. A lifetime of purpose.
For the very first time, we stood alongside our Pacific family in the Solomon Islands 🇸🇧 to support their national RHD programme—working hand in hand to deliver a support group for people living with RHD. What we experienced there was powerful beyond words.
We workshopped. We shared. We listened. We learned.
All grounded in one truth: Nothing About Us Without Us.
Walking into these spaces requires courage, vulnerability, and trust. And through it all, God has been faithful. 🙏✨

The highlight? Our first-ever RHD Support Group in the Solomon Islands. A room filled with individuals eager to understand RHD, to find healing, and to rise as advocates for their communities. It was more than a meeting—it was the beginning of something transformative.

From humble beginnings in Fiji to helping shape lived experience across the Pacific, this journey has been nothing short of humbling.

To our Solomon Islands Lived Experience Champions—you are seen, you are heard, and you matter. ❤️
