Today at the Viti Showcase & Skills Fair 💛
We witnessed a moment that truly reminded us why nurturing creativity matters.
One of our young girls represented their school with confidence and grace, presenting an up-cycled fashion design made from simple, reused materials like old jeans, neckties, and fabric that was carefully cleaned, dyed, and hand-stitched. Every detail – from the handmade accessories to the thoughtful colour choices – carried a message of sustainability, imagination, and purpose.
This wasn’t just about fashion. It was about self-belief, patience, and discovering that talent can grow from the most unexpected places.
Experiences like this are especially powerful for children who struggle with confidence, showing them that their hands and ideas can create something beautiful and meaningful.
We are incredibly proud of the quiet brilliance we continue to see, and grateful for platforms that allow our children to shine while keeping their identity safe and respected.
Here’s to creativity, resilience, and the God-given gifts within every child ✨

💔 Farewell to a True Man of God – Mr. Rupeni Fateikai 💔

With our deepest sadness, St. Philomena Children’s Home sends heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Rupeni Fateikai.

He was a true man of God — his faith was shown through his life, his humility, and his service. Mr. Fateikai began his journey as Director of Social Welfare by opening St. Mina Children’s Home, and ended his remarkable career by opening St. Philomena Children’s Home. Indeed, Heaven has gained a saint.

During his time with us, Mr. Fateikai was more than a leader — he was a father figure to our children. He visited often, cared deeply, and no matter what time we called, he was always there to help.

We will never forget how he travelled all the way from Suva to Nadi to attend Baby Verena’s funeral, spending the day comforting the mums and children from St. Mina. When one of our children had an accident, he personally came to the home to check on the child.

We were blessed to celebrate his retirement farewell at St. Philomena together with the children from St. Mina — a day filled with love and joy. Even after retirement, he continued visiting with his church youth, showing his constant care and support.

Mr. Fateikai lived a life of love, service, and sacrifice for the children of Fiji. His kindness and compassion will remain in our hearts forever.

You will always be in our prayers, as we know we were always in yours.
Goodbye, dear Mr. Fateikai, until we meet again in Heaven.

🕊️ Rest in Eternal Peace, our beloved friend and servant of God.
