“You Can’t Minister to People If You’re Looking Down on Them”
You can’t truly minister to people if you see yourself above them.
Real ministry begins with humility, not superiority.
The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ did not look down on sinners—He sat with them, spoke with them, and loved them. He washed the feet of His disciples, showing that true leadership is servant-hearted.
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant” (Matthew 20:26).
Many people want to correct others but forget they also need grace. Ministry is not about proving you are holier—it is about helping others walk closer to God.
Ellen G. White wrote that Christ’s method alone brings true success: mingle with people, show sympathy, minister to needs, win confidence, then invite them to follow God.
If pride enters ministry, compassion disappears. People listen more to love than judgment.
Before you speak to someone struggling, ask yourself:
“Am I trying to lift them up—or make myself look better?”
The heart of ministry is not standing above people.
It is kneeling beside them.
