Throughout March, in honor of International Women’s Day, we are celebrating 15 trailblazers—one remarkable woman for every decade of our 150 year service to Fiji.

Together, they embody a century and a half of progress, powered by the vision, courage, and leadership of incredible women.

Today, we honour Jane Koi, a powerful advocate for women in Fiji’s maritime sector and a leader dedicated to uplifting and empowering others.

As President of the Women in Maritime (WIMA) Fiji Association since 2016, Jane has worked tirelessly to strengthen networking, training, and visibility for women across the maritime industry. Under her leadership, WIMA has championed capacity‑building, advocated for better data on women’s participation, and pushed for greater representation for women in maritime decision‑making spaces.

Beyond WIMA, Jane serves on the Executive Council of the Institute of Maritime Officers Guild Fiji, further contributing to the advancement and recognition of maritime professionals nationwide.

Her dedication reflects the essence of “Give to Gain” — giving her time, expertise, and voice so that Fiji can gain a more inclusive, equitable, and resilient maritime sector. Through her leadership, countless women are finding their place, their confidence, and their future in an industry once closed to them.

Today, we celebrate Jane Koi: a woman steering change, inspiring progress, and lifting others as she leads.

It was a privilege to connect with fellow waste management agents of change, exchange insights, and learn from the inspiring work happening across our Pacific region.

Moments like these remind us that collaboration and shared knowledge are powerful tools in building a more sustainable future. 💙♻️
