🤝Stronger together for Fiji's rural communities - resilience is a whole-of-ministry commitment.
UNDP and UN Capital Development Fund and Fiji's Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management held a Joint Planning Session, bringing together teams from the UNDP’s Governance for Resilient Development in the Pacific (Gov4Res) project, the Pacific Insurance and Climate Adaptation Programme (PICAP), and the Maritime Safety & Security Project – Safeguarding the Blue Pacific.
"These programmes represent more than individual projects. They are strategic investments in Fiji's rural and maritime transformation," said Mitieli Cama, Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management.
As a key Risk-Informed Development (RID) champion, MRMDDM continues to lead efforts that connect governance, disaster risk financing, and community-based resilience — on land and at sea🌊
This includes advancing the safety and security of maritime communities and building financial resilience through literacy programmes that empower people to better prepare for and recover from shocks.
The joint planning session served as an important step in strengthening our coordination, ensuring smooth implementation and reporting, and maximising the impact of our work together for Fijian communities.
Together, we are taking a whole-of-ministry approach to climate resilience and risk-informed development across Fiji. 🇫🇯
PICAP is a joint initiative between the UNCDF, UNDP and United Nations University - EHS.
