The establishment of the Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organization (ORADO) is premised on the recognition that:

- Sport is a critical component of the social, economic and politics development of Oceania region countries;

- Sport is effective and ethical when practiced free of drugs or doping.

- Spirit of fair play and mutual respect for everybody involved.

- The member countries of Oceania re

gion need to pool resources and expertise in order to play a critical role in combating the scourge of drugs and doping in sport.

Brisbane hosts DCO Mentor Training to strengthen clean sport across the Pacific

A diverse cohort of Doping Control Officers from the Pacific, gathered in Brisbane this week for the DCO Mentor Training Program, a key step in boosting doping-control skills and integrity across ORADO membership.

The program, designed to align with the World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards, blends theoretical learning with hands-on testing practice. Trainers aim to equip participants with the knowledge and practical confidence to mentor others back home in the Pacific, ensuring clean competition and robust testing processes.

Over the course, attendees dive into the World Anti-Doping Code, International Standards, ethics, and the chain-of-custody required for reliable testing. The sessions pair classroom theory with on-the-ground testing simulations, giving participants experience in sample collection, documentation, and safety protocols.

A highlight of the workshop is a series of mock scenarios designed to replicate high-pressure situations. Trainees must apply decision-making, uphold athlete welfare, and preserve the integrity of the process under time constraints. Mentors guide the group through each step, emphasizing privacy, transparency, and cultural sensitivity.

The workshop will run from 19 - 29 June 2026.

Thanks to Sports Integrity Australia ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ for financially supporting this pilot project and we look forward to future collaboration with ORADO and our membership.

The best takeaway from today is โ€œthere is always room for improvementโ€ no matter how old and how long we have been DCOs, we still need to refresh and learn new changes, new ideas and new information. Knowledge without practicing is nothing. Pinati Tomane - Samoa IDCO.

Collaborative Meeting for Oceania in Beijing, China

Representatives from across Oceania came together to chart a common path forward, one that strengthens capacity, elevates athletesโ€™ voices, and fortifies our commitment to clean sport.

We focused on three core pillars: building regional capability, ensuring athletes have a real say in decisions, and partnering with leading integrity bodies to uphold the highest standards.

Capacity building: a shared plan to train, resource, and support our national teams, with a regional hub and mentoring network to keep programs sustainable.

Athlete voices: establishing formal channels for athletes to lead discussions, share concerns, and guide policy with clear roles and feedback loops.

Clean sport and integrity: collaboration with Sports Integrity Australia and Te Kahu Raunui to deliver education, reporting channels, and transparent processes.

Next steps is for ORADO to roll out a training framework, launch an athlete advisory group, and circulate a membership survey to identify gaps and tailor support for our membership.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversationโ€”together, weโ€™re building a stronger, fairer Oceania for sport.

WADAโ€™s Regional Symposium for Asia/Oceania, held June 2โ€“3, 2026 in Beijing, China

ORADO had a number of representatives attend the symposium, underscoring the organizationโ€™s commitment to the Clean Sport movement and highlighting how each country can apply the insights gained to prepare for the changes taking effect in 2027.

2027 Code Readiness: The symposium, guided by WADAโ€™s Code Implementation Support Program (CISP), emphasized compliance readiness, peer exchanges, and interactive case studies for nearly 400 participants from across Asia and Oceania.

Government and Intergovernmental Engagement: Following the 21st Asia/Oceania Intergovernmental Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sport on June 1, WADA leadership engaged government officials to align on new strategic priorities and global anti-doping standards.

Education as a Cornerstone: WADA President Witold Baล„ka and other officials reaffirmed that education is the long-term solution for safeguarding clean sport and deterring doping at the grassroots level.

The event was co-hosted with the China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA), continuing the regional effort to unify anti-doping organizations ahead of the 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport in Busan, South Korea.

Advancing Toward the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code for Oceania membership.

The Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organization (ORADO) held its Call to Action: Strategic Direction Workshop at the Hilton Auckland as part of the 2026 ONOC XLVI Annual General Assembly Week, setting Oceania on a clear path to the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code. The full-day session brought together ORADO Board members, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) representatives, regional integrity partners, and Oceania National Anti-Doping focal points.

The workshop took place during ONOC AGA Week (17 to 23 May), the workshop translated global anti-doping requirements into a coordinated Oceania response. ORADO Chairperson Unasa Natanya Potoi chaired the programme, with the help of the Organisational Review Committee members and the CEO Acting. Technical content was provided by Dr Yaya Yamamoto (WADA), Jason Lindsay, Dr Ugava and Kamlesh Reddy (the Organisational Review Committee members), Jono McGlashan (Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui), and Luke McCann (Sport Integrity Australia).

โ€œToday is about turning a global Code into a clear regional plan. Our role at ORADO is to make sure every Oceania country walks into 2027 with shared understanding, sharper roles and a strategy that fits our region. We want our athletes to compete with confidence and our governance to keep pace with global standards.โ€ โ€” Siniva Setareki, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organization (ORADO).

The workshop delivered five regional priorities, addressing the 2027 Code amendments, country compliance status, NOC/NADO roles under new independence guidelines, and the alignment of ORADOโ€™s 2025โ€“2027 Strategic Plan with WADAโ€™s 2025โ€“2029 RADO Program Strategy.

It also yielded concept papers for endorsement at the ORADO AGM and an outcomes brief for ONOC members at the ONOC AGM on 21 May 2026.

As a region, clean sport underpins all we do. The ORADO workshop was a pivotal element of reinforcing ONOCโ€™s governance framework that prioritises athletes while aligning with global standards.
