Vivekananda Technical Centre (formerly Nawaicoba Technical Centre) was established in 1981

The original Centre was located 13 kilometres from Nadi town and stood on 7 acres of land. At the beginning the centre only offered courses in Carpentry, Joinery, Agriculture and Automotive Engineering. Between 2000 and 2009, the Centre opened its doors to 3 new programs and in 2002 girls were introduced to the vocational centre for the first time. Partnership with EU

as awarded a $1M vocational training grant from the European Union. This has enabled VTC to upgrade its training facilities with modern equipment and resources. Fiji National Qualifications and Registration under the Fiji Higher Education Commission
In 2013, the VTC was registered under the Fiji Higher Education Commission as an independent higher education service provider. From 2013, the Centre also started offering Fiji National Qualifications. Currently the centre is offering the following programs:
• Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanics
• Certificate IV in Automotive Electricals and Electronics
• Certificate IV in Cookery
• Certificate IV in Cabinet Making and Joinery
• Certificate IV in Agriculture
Certificate IV in Advanced Office Technology (Provider Qualification)

Partnership with the APTC
In September 2013, the centre entered an agreement with APTC. Under this partnership the capacity of VTC will be developed to deliver international standard vocational training. Students will also receive Australian recognized qualifications along with the Fiji National Qualifications. The Centre was relocated to its current location behind Swami Vivekananda College in 2016. As of January 2021, The following courses are offered by VTC:

Certificate II in Production Horticulture
Certificate III in Production Horticulture
Certificate IV in Production Horticulture
Certificate II in Agriculture (Spice Production)
Certificate II in Food Processing

These courses carry no costs for the participating farmers and are assessed on a competency-based system.

Vivekananda Technical Centre (VTC), Malolo is pleased to inform all interested farmers that free duruka (Saccharum edule) cuttings are now available for collection.

Duruka, also known as Fijian asparagus, is a nutritious and high-value traditional crop that grows well in Fiji conditions and provides good income opportunities for farmers.

👨‍🌾 Who can collect: Interested farmers

⏰ Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

We encourage farmers to take advantage of this opportunity to diversify crops, improve food security, and explore new income sources.

This week, our team hosted an International Women's Day morning tea to celebrate the incredible women who work and study at Vivekananda Technical Centre

This year's theme, 'Give to Gain', speaks to the power of reciprocity and support. At VTC, we live this every day. Through our free agricultural courses, we support women and girls in building skills and gaining employment. And in return, we gain so much: their knowledge, their resilience, and their vision for the future.

VTC looks forward to learning from and supporting more women in the future.

Today Vivekananda Technical Centre, Nadi, Fiji together with Ministry of Youth and Sports FIJI held graduation ceremony for 60 participants who successfully completed:
🌱 Certificate in Agriculture (Spice Production) (Level 2)
🌿 Certificate in Production Horticulture (Level 2)

The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Hon. Jese Saukuru, Minister for Youth and Sports, whose presence highlighted the Government’s continued commitment to empowering youth through skills development and sustainable agriculture.
This milestone reflects our shared dedication to building skilled farmers, promoting sustainable farming practices, and strengthening food security in Fiji. Congratulations to all graduates as you step forward to contribute meaningfully to our agricultural sector and communities.
