Vision: To provide young people a stimulating, creative and fun environment to increase their english language speaking skills through drama. Second language acquisition methodology shows communicative based learning is one of the most effective ways to encourage confidence in producing natural language. Drama utilizes creativity and communication providing an excellent platform for students to en
gage in. It offers a holistic medium using verbal communication which is reinforced by non-verbal communication through use of the body. Role-playing and drama are often used in the traditional classroom of second language learning. The focus will be on engaging the whole body through the disciplines of theatre and drama. Young people thrive on being able to express themselves in a warm, supportive atmosphere. In the English Drama Club not only will the young person improve their English language skills but they will have a safe place to relax, release their creative energy and find their own unique voice. Theatre show. Club Teacher: New Zealander Jenna Hastelow studied drama at High school and was involved in theatrical and dramatic endeavors. During the same time she starred in various city theatre productions. Later while working as a mentor in a high school she directed the smoke free stage challenge. After moving cities to study journalism she became a member of the youth city council. Following this she worked on a volunteer basis with community youth in partnership with the Anglican church. Now as a woman in her thirties and who resides permanently in Finland, she would like to continue to contribute to young people. She has studied teaching english as a second language and teaching english to young learners and has been working as a freelance English language teacher for the past four years.
