🚨 300,000,000 CHILDREN. EVERY YEAR. 🚨

This is NOT just “online danger.”
This is:
– grooming
– coercion
– sexual extortion
– abuse being recorded and shared

Happening to children. Every day. Everywhere.

That’s 10 children every second.

Let that sink in.

And here’s the part no one is talking about:

⚠️ In the EU, systems that were detecting this abuse online have been allowed to weaken after key legislation expired meaning LESS detection, LESS protection.

At a time when this crisis is growing.
We are literally moving backwards.

Children are being left unprotected
while the internet becomes more dangerous than ever.

This is not okay.

Finland is often ranked one of the ”happiest”, most equal and safest countries in the world.

But behind that image lies a difficult truth.

🇫🇮 1 in 3 women in Finland has experienced violence from a partner.
⚠️ 60% of women have experienced physical or sexual violence since age 15.
🚨 Over 13,000 domestic violence crimes were reported in one year alone.

And most cases are never reported.

Researchers call this the Nordic Paradox:
countries with strong gender equality can still have extremely high rates of violence against women.

Equality means nothing if women are still unsafe in their homes.

Today is not just about celebrating women.
It is about listening to survivors, believing them, and demanding change.

Silence protects violence.
Speaking about it protects people.

Every 4 minutes, a child is killed by violence.
90 million children have experienced sexual violence.
1.6 billion children face violent punishment at home.

These are not just numbers.
They are - Real lives. Real pain.

Behind every statistic is a child who deserved safety.
Who deserved protection.
Who deserved to be believed.

I refuse to look away.
I refuse to normalize this.
I refuse to let shame win.

If you are a survivor, you are not broken.
If you are a child reading this, you are not alone.
If you are an adult, you have a responsibility.

Protect children.
Believe survivors.
Break the cycle.

I had the honour of participating as a survivor advocate at the Regional Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Europe and Central Asia, convened in Bucharest by the Government of Romania, UNICEF and the United Nations Special Representative on Violence Against Children 🇺🇳

The official narrative report has now been published, and I am included as a contributor under the “Lived Experience” section.
You can read the full report link 🔗 in bio 🤍

During my intervention, I spoke about:
•The long-term impact of childhood sexual abuse
•The systemic failures that allow abuse to persist
•The urgent need for trauma-informed justice
•Rapid removal of abusive online content
•Guaranteed access to long-term therapeutic support
•The importance of centering survivor voices in policy-making

This conference brought together high-level representatives from 30 governments across Europe and Central Asia. A consistent message emerged:
“Ending violence against children requires moving from political commitments to funded, measurable implementation”

Survivor voices are not symbolic.
They are essential to effective policy design.

I remain committed to working at the intersection of advocacy, systems reform, and culture to ensure that protection is not just promised but delivered🦋🩵

On Valentine’s Day, we’re sending love somewhere different. 🤍

Not just to couples.
Not just to romance.

But to the ones who feel alone in their story.
To the ones healing quietly.
To the ones learning to trust again.
To the ones carrying a wounded inner child.

To the survivor who still shows up.
To the one who is triggered but still trying.
To the one rebuilding safety piece by piece.

If today feels heavy, complicated, or tender
this love is for you.

Your healing matters.
Your softness is strength.
Your story did not end with what happened to you.

Today we choose to celebrate courage.
Today we send love to survivors.

You are not broken.
You are becoming. 🤍

Today, on the World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence, I want to share something heavy but necessary! 🩵

I was in the room when these graphs were shown in Romania 🇷🇴 at & event on ending violence against children.
Data collected across the EU.
Numbers that should never exist.

And yet… Finland stands shockingly high.
In the UNICEF / FRA reports, Finland is among the worst countries in Europe when it comes to child sexual violence experienced by girls.
Let that sink in.

A country known for safety, equality, and wellbeing…
Yet behind closed doors, too many children are not safe.
Too many grow up with wounds they never chose.

As a survivor, seeing these numbers on a screen was a punch to the stomach.
Not because I didn’t know the truth, but because the truth is even worse than most people want to believe.

This is not “a foreign issue.”
This is not “rare.”
This is happening here. Every day.

And still, the majority of children never disclose what happened to them.
They carry the silence.
They grow up thinking it was their fault.
They become another hidden statistic.

We have to do better.
We have to speak, protect, educate, believe, and demand change, not someday, but now.

✨ I stand with Protect Children / Suojellaan Lapsia .fi and their incredible work on ending child sexual abuse in Finland and globally.
✨ I stand with every survivor who has ever felt unseen or unheard.
✨ I stand for a future where these charts no longer look like this.

Please, let’s not look away.
Let’s make Finland, and every country truly safe for children 🇫🇮

🌍 UNITED NATIONS DAY 🤍💙 24.10
Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the UNICEF/UN conference on child protection, a moment that reminded me how powerful unity can be when it comes to protecting our children.

Today, on , I want to remind us all:
It’s no longer a question of who will act, but when.
And the answer must be now.

Every child deserves to grow up safe, loved, and free.
Let’s make child protection the top political and moral priority, across every nation.
Because the children need us.
And we need them. 🕊️💙

💔 Statute of Limitations = a legal deadline for when a crime can be reported and prosecuted.

When it comes to child sexual abuse, this deadline can mean the difference between justice and silence.

📊 Research shows it takes, on average, over 55 years for survivors to disclose (the word used for when someone speaks out) their abuse — often due to trauma, fear, shame, or manipulation.

Yet in Finland, the law still says that once the survivor turns 28 years old, they can no longer report the crime.

That means countless survivors — children who were abused and silenced — are legally denied justice by the time they are emotionally able to speak up.

⚠️ According to the latest European report, Finland ranks among the worst in Europe, with a failing grade (F) for its statute of limitations on child sexual offences.

This is not protection. It’s abandonment.
We must end limitation laws that silence survivors and protect perpetrators.
