✨❄️🏒Super proud to introduce our next amazing Save Pond Hockey Ambassador, another one of the legends of Finnish women’s hockey: Anne Haanpää!🙌🇫🇮

• 4X European Championship Gold Medalist
• 8X SM-Sarja Champion
In her own words:
“We moved to a new suburb when I was almost 4. That winter, I started playing ice hockey. My Mom put my skates on and gave me a stick and pushed me to the ice.
Nearby, there was a pond called “Evil Pond”. All the kids’ parents tried to scare us about the evil in the pond, so that we wouldn’t go there, but they didn’t succeed. We also played at the local rink and on the street.
I couldn’t play with the boys team, because it was not allowed. Luckily, the boys asked me to join them.
At age 12, I joined the newly founded Ilves women’s team, which later played its league games outside for many years.
I often use a bicycle or public transport if I am not walking. I reduce my food waste. It’s not much, but small actions add up, and I’ll do my best to support pond hockey for my 3 and 5 year old grandkids.”
