E-P WIISE ry To achieve these goals, WIISE provides services such as integration training, networking events and business coaching.

A local community for people who have moved, or returned, to Etelä-Pohjanmaa to identify work placements, find jobs, network with companies or simply meet new friends. Etelä-Pohjanmaan WIISE ry is a membership association for people who have moved, or returned, to Etelä-Pohjanmaa - a local community where you can identify work placements, find jobs, network with companies or simply meet new friends. WIISE aims to develop and maintain a positive ecosystem in Etelä-Pohjanmaa, an ecosystem in which immigrants and Finns who move to the area can thrive, where they integrate into working life and settle into everyday life.

Meet The WIISE Team 💚

Our activities are based on voluntary work, including the work of the board. The WIISE board are now 9 people in total, Finns and immigrants, whose work helps the community flourish and grow. WIISE´s experience can be used to help migrating workers and their family members to settle into working life and integrate into everyday life in Finland. We as an association help people familiarise themselves with the local life and business community and get to know one another.

Toimintamme ja hallitustyö perustuu vapaaehtoistyöhön. WIISE:n hallituksessa on tällä hetkellä 9 jäsentä, suomalaisia ja maahanmuuttajia, joiden työ auttaa yhteisöämme kukoistamaan ja kasvamaan. WIISE:n kokemusta voidaan hyödyntää autettaessa maahanmuuttaneita ja heidän perheenjäseniään sopeutumaan työelämään ja integroitumaan arkeen Suomessa. E-P WIISE ry was a partner in the project. WIISE's remit included organising an annual recruitment fair or seminar.

We wanted to organise a series of events that could help overcome a challenge faced by ALL international students; how to find a practical training place and graduate. This could also be useful for Ukrainians, who were the focus of U2VET.

During the project, we organised three recruitment events that only offered practical training places: Rekrymessut Practical Training Recruitment Fair.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗨𝟮𝗩𝗘𝗧
U2VET aims to integrate Ukrainian refugees into vocational training and further into society and labor market. Project partners will share and gather good practices related to the process of integrating Ukrainians to VET and develop a set of guides, tools and materials and pilot locally at the VET schools the whole process and integrate Ukrainian refugees into vocational training with the support of individual skills identification, integration training and preparatory training.

This week, Mark Wiltshear from E-P WIISE ry took part in the final multiplier event webinar for the project. This is the culmination of three years of work for the group of project workers from across Europe:

During the webinar, we had the opportunity to explain how the processes and materials created by the project, is already helping Ukrainians into vocational education, and how they can also be used to help others integrate into our countries in future.

🍂 Viime viikonloppuna Wiise-ryhmän Kulttuuri-iltapäivä Kauhajoella koostui kahdesta vierailukohteesta. Reilu kymmenen vierailijaa nautti syysaurinkoisesta säästä, historiasta, seurasta ja vohveleista.

📓Ensimmäinen pysähdyspaikkamme oli Kauhajoen Eduskuntamuseo, joka on ainutlaatuinen paikka Suomen historiassa. Talvisodan aikana Suomen eduskunta siirtyi salaisessa operaatiossa Helsingistä Kauhajoelle, jossa se jatkoi toimintaansa joulukuusta 1939 helmikuuhun 1940. Tutustuimme eduskunnan istuntosaliin, esineistöön ja eläydyimme tuohon aikaan oppaamme tarinan mukana.

🫖Viihtyisä ja suosittu Katjan Vohvelikahvila tunnetaan käsintehdyistä makeista ja suolaisista vohveleistaan sekä muista leivonnaisista ja erikoiskahveista. Haaveensa todeksi tehnyt yrittäjä Katja Mäntyniemi hyödyntää kahvilassaan myös osallistujan kokemustaan leivontatelevisio-ohjelmasta ”Koko Suomi leipoo”.

🍂 Last weekend, the Wiise group visited Kauhajoki :The cultural afternoon in Kauhajoki consisted of two stops. Just over ten visitors enjoyed the sunny autumn weather, the history, the company and the waffles.

📓 Our first stop was the Kauhajoki Parliament Museum, a unique site in Finnish history. During the Winter War, the Finnish Parliament was secretly relocated from Helsinki to Kauhajoki, where it continued its work from December 1939 to February 1940. We explored the Parliament’s chamber and the exhibits, and were transported back to that era through our guide’s storytelling.

🫖The cosy and popular Katjan Vohvelikahvila is known for its handmade sweet and savoury waffles, as well as other baked goods and speciality coffees. Entrepreneur Katja Mäntyniemi, who has turned her dream of a coffee shop into reality, also draws on her experience as a contestant on the baking TV programme ‘Koko Suomi leipoo’ in running her café.
