Grand Duchess Juliette-Rose and I send our warmest greetings to all of you, our citizens and friends, at this special time of year.

As the deep winter settles around us here in the North, and the nights are at their longest, we are starkly reminded of the profound human need for light. For centuries, at this darkest time of the year, communities have gathered together to kindle fires, light candles, and share in the warmth of companionship against the cold and the dark.

For many, this is the season of Christmas, a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and his enduring message of peace and goodwill to all. For others in our diverse community, this season marks a time of quiet reflection, the turning of the Solstice, or simply a moment to rest.

Regardless of our individual faiths or backgrounds, we are united by the spirit of this season: charity, compassion, and hope.

In a modern world that can often feel fractured by conflict and misunderstanding, the values we hold dear in Nyholt—tolerance, justice, and the protection of the vulnerable—shine like beacons. This year, I am reminded that peace is not merely the absence of noise, but the active presence of understanding. It is found in the hand extended to a neighbor, the support given to a friend, and the courage to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

Especially at this time we think of those for whom this season may be difficult. We celebrate the concept of family in all its forms—not only the families we are born into but the "chosen families" that are so vital to our LGBTQ+ community. Let us ensure that no citizen of Nyholt feels truly alone this winter.

As we look toward the New Year, let us carry the light of this festive season forward. Let us resolve to be kinder, to be steadfast in our defense of the environment, and to be tireless workers for peace.

We wish you all a season of joy, a time of rest, and a very happy Christmas.

Today, on the 13th of December, many countries revere St. Lucia, a Christian saint, who in the Nordics is associated most with bringing light and warmth into the darkest time of the year.

Each year a new Lucia is crowned with crown of candles, to instill hope and love. Something that the world today desperately needs. We need Lucia's age-old message to remind each and everyone of us of those things that matter the most - humanity, empathy, and caring.

A Statement by Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Carlos I and Grand Duchess Juliette-Rose of Nyholt

On the Occasion of the Third Anniversary of Nyholt Day

Today, we observe the nineteenth of November, a date that holds special significance for every one of us, for it marks the anniversary of the founding of our Grand Duchy.

Three years have passed since that foundational day. It may feel, to some, that our journey thus far has been one of quiet progress, perhaps even measured stillness. We have yet to make the decisive mark upon the global stage that many aspire to. Yet, we would ask you to look not only at the distance we have travelled, but at the firmness of the ground upon which we now stand.

We have, in these three years, accomplished the truly essential work of state-building. We have established a Constitution that is both modern and steadfast, securing the rights and freedoms of every citizen. We have built the structures of our governance, from the Royal Cabinet to the House of Lords, ensuring that the exercise of authority is both advised and transparent.

Our Enduring Values

The strength of Nyholt lies not in the size of its territories, but in the quality of its heart and the clarity of its purpose. Our values are not merely decorative but are the pillars upon which our society is built:

- The commitment to environmental preservation for future generations.

- The unqualified belief in the equality and rights of the LGBTIQ+ minority.

- The rejection of war as an instrument of policy and the constant search for peaceful solutions.

- The promotion of humanitarian aid and justice on the world stage.

Looking to the Future

Despite, or maybe because of the uncertainty and volatility of the modern world, we look ahead with sincere and steady optimism. Our goal remains ambitious: to be a strong, effective, and collaborative player within the micronational field. It is through active participation and functioning collaboration that we will work tirelessly with other micronations to address important issues on a global scale.

This work belongs not just to the Sovereigns, nor to the Cabinet, but to all of us, together. Every citizen contributes to the reputation and reach of Nyholt. It is your dedication to our principles that serves as our true strength.

May we all continue to find strength in our unity, and may peace and prosperity attend the Grand Duchy of Nyholt.
