The first Festival of Augmented Dance will take place in Oulu during November 2026. We will showcase a programme of dance performances from around the globe, including some world exclusives. Each performance highlights the relationship between dance and technology in new and creative ways.

Ensimmäinen Augmented Dance Festival järjestetään Oulussa 25.-28.11.2026. Festivaalin ohjelmistossa nähdään tanssiesityksiä eri puolilta maailmaa, mukaan lukien useita ensi-iltoja. Esitykset tarkastelevat tanssin ja teknologian välistä suhdetta uusista ja luovista näkökulmista.

Festivaalin pääesiintymispaikkana toimii Valvesali. Lisäksi festivaaliohjelmaa toteutetaan Valveen aulassa ja etuikkunassa sekä itu artlabissä, jolloin tapahtuma laajenee myös julkiseen tilaan ja on kaupunkilaisten saavutettavissa festivaalialueen ulkopuolella.

Together with the University of Oulu are currently running Artist-in-Business Experiments co-funded by the EU and the city of Oulu.

Our first experiment is completed and the results of the collaboration between SCALEPORT AI and a small group of artists from different fields are super interesting. We observed how creative processes typical to artistic practice were integrated deep into the development of AI Agents and how radically it changed the outcomes.

The company gained totally new ways of using their AI tools and started applying the knowledge with their clients immediately. Artists gained excellent mentoring in the use of AI.

We soon start our second experiment with a health tech company, Near Real Oy and we are currently looking for a group of artist to work with the challenge that the company has set for us.

We have two more experiments available for tech companies to test out collaboration with artist and to learn more about creative processes and for artists to learn more from the use of technology as a creative tool. I am more and more convinced that the key in boosting innovation in tech (and other) industry is found through the collaboration with artists - who are specialists in creative thinking.

Join us in Itu artlab on friday for an artist talk with Riina Õun. After the artist talk there is a chance to join Riina's co-creation session where people can try embroidery, appliqué and printing with flowers.

FRIDAY 28.8. at 5pm to 7pm

Riina Õun is in residency at itu artlab. Õun is a multidisciplinary designer, artist, and researcher specializing in biomaterials and regenerative design. Known for her intricate luxury leather craftsmanship under her brand Riina O, she now weaves sustainability and innovation into her creative process through planet-friendly materials.

Riina Õun on residenssissä itu artlabissa. Hän on monialainen suunnittelija, taiteilija ja tutkija joka on erikoistunut biomateriaaleihin ja uusiutuvaan designiin. Hänet tunnetaan käsityötaidoistaan luksusnahkan parissa nimellä Riina O. Tällä hetkellä hän kehittää uusia luovia ja kestävämpiä ratkaisuja ympäristöystävällisten materiaalien parissa.
