🎃International Halloween Sitsfest Tue 31.10. Would you like to participate in a sitsit where both international and Finnish students can come together to learn, practice and celebrate Finnish sitsi-traditions? If yes, you’re in luck: we’re throwing an International & Interdisciplinary Sitsfest at Tilia on Tue 31st of October, with the goal of bringing the essence of Finnish sitsi-culture to an international setting! The event will be hosted in English, but there will be the possibility to sing sitsfest songs both in English and in Finnish.
What is sitsit?
A sitsfest (=sitsit) is a Finnish student event where people sing, drink & eat together, and follow a set of sitsfest rules imposed by the ‘toastmaster(s)’; breaking the rules can result in punishments, which are a part of sitsfests (and usually fun). We’ll go over the rules at the start of the event so don’t be late (first rule of a sitsfest!): the doors open at 5:30pm, and it’s recommended you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the event so you have the time to find your seat etc. .
The theme of this sitsfest is of course Halloween, so prepare to be spooky or get spooked! Witches, vampires and barbenheimers; all the cool ghouls are called to gather at Tilia for a frighteningly fun sitsfest. Note, that dressing according to the theme is part of sitsfest rules, although ‘costumes’ really don’t need to be anything fancy. You can also wear your overalls if you have them :)
