2025 was another turbulent year for democracy globally, but Demo Finland and its partners continued their work to promote dialogue among political parties and create opportunities for the political participation of underrepresented groups.
In 2025, we worked in 8 countries, supported 139 political parties and reached 1760 politicians and civil society actors in our international programmes.
Some of the highlights of our results include:
🇽🇰 Under our new programme in Kosovo, representatives from political party youth wings participated in facilitated dialogue processes to identify shared challenges. Following the participation, they reported increased readiness to engage in multi-party dialogue in the future, which also led to a joint statement by political party youth wings calling for restraint from hate speech and disinformation during political campaigns.
🇪🇹 In Ethiopia, altogether 20 political parties made efforts to amend their structures, rules and practices to better accommodate persons with disabilities and women in their operations. The engaged parties represent almost a third of all political parties in Ethiopia.
