🌍 Akwa Cross Summer Connect 2026 —
Thank You for Showing Up
Last Saturday we held our Akwa Cross Summer Connect 2026 here in Helsinki, and it was a genuinely good day.
About 30 people joined us and the atmosphere was warm from start to finish. Traditional Akwa Ibom and Cross River music set the tone, there were games, plenty of laughter, and the kind of easy conversation that happens when people feel comfortable around each other.
We were also fed well. Ukang ukom and afang soup with swallow were also served.
One of the highlights of the day was our immigration law session with Jeslor Oy. Their lawyers were generous with their time and expertise, and our community members came with real questions and got real answers. That kind of practical support matters, and we are grateful to Jeslor Oy for collaborating with us on this.
A big thank you to Helsinki City for providing the venue.
The theme of the day was unity, and it came through naturally. Not just as something we said, but something we felt in the room. When a community shows up for itself, good things happen.
To everyone who came, thank you. To those who missed it, there will be a next time. 🙏🏾
