Over the past few years, we have seen young people organize with real courage, speed, and creativity. They expose corruption, challenge exclusion, push back against broken governance systems, and force difficult issues onto the agenda. Read Search for Common Ground's new report on 'Building the Alternative: Bridging Gen Z Movements and Governance for Lasting Change', which argues that can help build that bridge—not by helping absorb the pressure, but by creating legitimate channels through which youth voice can shape decisions: https://cnxus.org/resource/building-the-alternative/

✅️ New Platform Brings Together Faith and Traditional Mediators to Advance Peace in the Horn of Africa

Last month, the Peacemakers Netw, in partnership with FCA Finn Church Aid, and with support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, has launched a new regional platform to strengthen the role of tradition and faith-oriented insider mediators in advancing peace across the Horn of Africa. The platform brings together trusted mediators from Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan including religious leaders, traditional leaders, women, youth, and civil society representatives who are already supporting dialogue, reconciliation, and peace efforts within their communities. New Research Highlights the Critical Role of Tradition and Faith-Oriented Insider Mediators in Advancing Peace Across Africa

On June 15, the Peacemakers Netw alongside FCA Finn Church Aid launched a landmark research report in Addis Ababa that highlights the critical yet often under-recognized role of Tradition and Faith-Oriented Insider Mediators (TFIMs) in advancing peace, fostering dialogue, and supporting political transitions across Africa.

The report provides new evidence on how faith and traditional leaders are helping to prevent violence, mediate conflicts, build trust between communities and decision-makers, and support sustainable peace processes across the continent.
