Week two of 90 Day Finn moved from bioreactors to supercomputers in five days. 🤩

It opened at VTT Food Technology, home to 200+ biotechnology and food experts and the birthplace of spinouts including Solar Foods and Onego Bio. At Onego Bio, fermented Trichoderma reesei fungus becomes an animal-free egg protein, already backed by €18 million in first investment and a partnership with Sigma Foods. 🍳

→ Tuesday: a networking breakfast at Maria 01 with CEO Sarita Runeberg, followed by a tour of the infrastructure behind Maria 01’s startup community
→ Wednesday: AI day with LUMI AI Factory, ELLIS Institute Finland and FCAI, on how companies can access supercomputing power and applied AI research
→ A look at Finland’s food innovation pipeline, from the University of Helsinki’s grain data ecosystem to accelerator finals held at Slush, and a taste test at Perfat Technologies, whose fat alternatives showed no noticeable difference from the original
→ Friday: a triple visit to Nokia, VTT and Aalto University. Nokia’s 160-year history and €160 billion invested in advanced connectivity, VTT’s 488 patent families in 2025, and Aalto-origin startups collectively valued at over €30 billion

The week covered a lot of ground:

→ A crash course in Finland’s support ecosystem, including Business Finland’s €1 billion in funding disbursed in 2025 and International House Helsinki’s family relocation services

→ A visit to the University of Helsinki, home to 30+ spinout companies worth over €300 million since 2018

→ An afternoon with FiBAN’s 600+ angel investors, where 93% of 2025 investments went to Finnish companies, a reminder that business here still runs on local trust

→ An Alumni Reunion, where board member Riku Asikainen described Finland as “a disproportionately valuable startup ecosystem for a country of 5.7 million”

How often does a business program end with a meeting with the reigning Ice Hockey World Champions? 🏆

Last week, our 90 Hour Helsinki participants unexpectedly crossed paths with Finland’s national ice hockey team, the (Lions), fresh from their IIHF World Championship victory.

A memorable moment, and certainly not one that was included in the original agenda. Swipe to the end for the pictures 📲

But it wasn’t the only highlight.... Over three intensive days, founders, entrepreneurs and business leaders explored Helsinki’s innovation ecosystem through meetings with research institutions, startups, investors and ecosystem partners helping international companies establish and grow in Europe.

From the , and to , , , - Pääomasijoittajat, and many others, participants gained a first-hand look at what makes Helsinki a great place to innovate, collaborate and scale.

The 90 Hour Helsinki program is designed to answer one simple question:

This week, we welcomed an exclusive delegation of Japanese corporate leaders and entrepreneurs to Helsinki for a special edition of the 90 Hour Helsinki program.

Collaboration between India and Helsinki has never been more valuable.
Especially when it comes to building sustainable AI globally.

Indian-Finnish relations are stronger than ever, with an estimated trade value of €3 billion every year and Finland being home to more than 30,000 Indian people.
