📢 Our 1st CivicDesign4HER Newsletter is here! Read below in English and Finnish 🇬🇧 🇫🇮

We are excited to introduce the first Newsletter with updates on CivicDesign4HER, an Erasmus+ project empowering migrant women through civic engagement and systemic design.

- What makes CivicDesign4HER unique? We use a Systemic Design Framework to understand civic participation through interconnected social, cultural, and institutional realities.
- Kick off meeting: Our partnership gathered in Hannover, Germany for the kick-off meeting to shape the project vision, define milestones, and begin developing key project results.

Together, we aim to strengthen inclusion, participation, and community co-creation across Europe. 💜🌍

Stay tuned as we build innovative tools, learning opportunities, and local action spaces for migrant women and educators.

Behind us are the following activities within an international project dedicated to the use of forum theater in working with young people and to combat discrimination and exclusion 🌍
During meetings and workshops, participants from different countries develop work-related competencies using socially engaged theater methods - based on dialogue, empathy and active participation. The project focuses on building a space to talk about prejudices, radicalization, inequality and experiences of marginalized people ❤️
Educational tools, local social activities and forum theatre performances with young people in different European countries are also being created as part of the activities 💛
During an intensive 8-day course, we will train 14 youth workers from Finland ( for Integration ry), France (Jeune Avenir Mondial), Macedonia (EDU-INCLUDE-Ohrid), Poland (Fantazmat Foundation), Romania (IPSI), Turkey (Aegean Youth) and Italy (FNISM TARANTO) in the practical use of Forum Theater methodology. As part of the training, there will also be a performance in English based on this method 💜
The training is conducted by Jarosław Rebeli Rebski - an experienced coach, theatrologist and drama educator, specializing in Forum Theater and working with theater methods in education and social activities 💚
In the next stage of the project, the participants, working in coaching duos, will perform their own shows in their countries, based on local contexts, as well as train other people. Materials and resources will also be created to enable the implementation of the Forum Theater methodology in different environments 💙
Below are a few pictures from one of the project days 📸

The Feedback Vacuum

"Why should I give my opinion or participate if nothing ever changes?" 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

If you have ever felt this way, you are not alone. You are experiencing what we call the "Feedback Vacuum". 🕳️

Based on the results of our recent focus group-comparative analysis across 5 European countries for the ADROIT project, we found that the biggest barrier to local civic participation isn't a lack of interest. The real problem occurs when institutions collect your input but never transparently report back on how your ideas were actually used.

When public consultations disappear into this "vacuum" without visible outcomes, it creates systemic "Consultation Fatigue" and makes citizens feel their efforts are purely symbolic.

Your voice matters! Authorities must rebuild trust by "Closing the Loop" and communicating real, tangible results after every citizen consultation.

🗣️ Let’s demand transparency in our local democracies!

The Senior Misinformation Loop

Have you ever received a scary, shocking, or manipulative forwarded chain email from an older relative?

Based on the results of our transnational focus group-comparative analysis, the ADROIT project has identified a highly dangerous phenomenon: "The Senior Misinformation Loop".

Our research reveals that manipulative fake news and alarmist disinformation actively target vulnerable seniors. Because these messages are forwarded by trusted interpersonal contacts like family members or lifelong friends they completely bypass standard critical media filters. This creates a closed, generational "echo chamber" of disinformation that is very hard for official institutions to pe*****te.

We cannot leave our seniors alone to navigate the digital jungle! Digital fact-checking isn't enough. Breaking this loop requires a human touchphysical mediators like local librarians and community educators who can act as "trust anchors" to teach practical cyber-hygiene in a safe, face-to-face environment.

Let's protect our vulnerable demographics and build digital resilience together!
