The Carbon Busters

The Carbon Busters We aim to "restore human oneness with nature".

Carbon Busters is a climate-science educational adventure program, combining values-based creative expression, like storytelling, drama, and games, with science learning. We are a Finnish based non-profit, incorporating expertise from the internationally lauded Finnish education and environment sectors. Students working with Carbon Busters content learn what a changing climate means for our future

and how and why we can (and should) transform the way we live, work and play. In the context of education and action, children and young people in our programme build a personal connection with nature. We know from our research and experience that nature connectedness is a proven driver of pro-environmental behaviour. Carbon busting means inspiring students to actions, which either directly reduce carbon in the air, such as planting a tree, or mitigate emissions, such as using stainless steel water bottles and cloth bags instead of single-use plastic ones. Carbon busting also means assuming leadership at school and in the community, expanding mindsets and devising ideas to adapt to our changing climate as well as inspire more impactful shifts toward low-carbon behaviour. After establishing successful programs in Greece, Carbon Busters teamed with Karo Sambhav’s Cohesive Ewaste Movement in 20 states in India to extend our expert climate change content to some 1600 schools across the country. Carbon Busters is also implementing a pilot project in eight schools in Florida in 2019, and our positioning to pilot a programme in Finnish schools.
