IOM:n tuore World Migration Report 2026 kokoaa yhteen ajankohtaisinta tietoa globaalista muuttoliikkeestä. Tilaisuudessa tarkastellaan raportin keskeisiä havaintoja, keskustellaan datan merkityksestä muuttoliikettä koskevassa päätöksenteossa ja juhlistetaan IOM:n 75-vuotisjuhlavuotta.

Vuosi 2025 oli humanitaariselle sektorille haastava. Humanitaarisen avun tarve oli ennätyksellisellä tasolla konfliktien, luonnonkatastrofien ja pakkomuuton takia samalla, kun käytettävissä olevat resurssit vähenivät. 🌍

Silti IOM jatkoi työtään siellä, missä apua tarvittiin eniten. Tavoitimme 17,8 miljoonaa ihmistä 170 maassa ja alueella tarjoamalla muun muassa terveydenhuoltoa, suojaa, puhdasta vettä ja tukea turvalliseen liikkumiseen.

Jokaisen numeron takana on ihmisiä, perheitä ja yhteisöjä, jotka rakentavat elämäänsä uudelleen vaikeiden kokemusten jälkeen.

2025 was a year of enormous challenges for the humanitarian sector. Conflicts, disasters and displacement drove humanitarian needs to record levels and resources grew increasingly constrained. 🌍

Still, IOM remained where people needed us most. We reached 17.8 million people across 170 countries and territories with life-saving assistance, including shelter, health care, protection, clean water and sanitation, and safe movement support.

Behind each number is a person, a family, and a community working to recover and rebuild.

What appears to be legal work can quickly turn into exploitation.

Across the countries, labour exploitation remains one of the most commonly identified forms of human trafficking.

At the same time, criminal networks are increasingly trafficking people around the world into online scam operations and forcing them to commit crimes. People forced into criminal activities are victims and should be protected, not punished.

This World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, join IOM in raising awareness, protecting victims, and preventing exploitation. Together, we can make a difference.

For Syrians in Sweden without permanent legal status, flexible return assistance could support informed decision-making.

In DTM’s latest intention survey, 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 ‘𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲’: 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻, interviewees shared that the conditions attached to voluntary return programmes made participation feel risky.

In DTM’s latest intention survey, Reconsidering ‘Home’: Aspirations and Intentions of Syrians in Sweden, some participants described differing attachments to Syria and Sweden within their families, influencing return intentions.

Vuonna 2025 IOM tavoitti 5,1 miljoonaa ihmistä 61 maassa tarjoamalla puhdasta vettä, sanitaatiopalveluja ja tukea sairauksien ehkäisyyn.
