Allianssi Youth Exchanges

Allianssi Youth Exchanges In Finnish: www.facebook.com/Nuorisovaihto Allianssi Youth Exchanges is a Finnish NGO working for intercultural learning and global understanding.

We work in many national and international networks. We are the Finnish member of the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations and work in close co-operation with members and partners of the network especially in the field of global short and medium term voluntary exchanges. In long term volunteer exchanges we have a wider range or partners, especially in EU-funded programs such as Eur

opean Solidarity Corps. We have both incoming and outgoing voluntary programs. In addition to about 30 short term voluntary work camps and ESC volunteer teams in Finland we co-ordinate long term European Solidarity Corps volunteers to our partner organisations in Finland. We also have own outgoing EU funded projects for vocational education. In these programs we work with recent graduates who would like to get some work experience after graduation. At the moment we co-operate with about 10 European countries in these outbound programs. Most of our participants are 18-30 years old, but there are also possibilities for 16-17 years old and in many programs we have older participants as well. Due to wide variety of programs we can offer interesting alternatives to people with different backgrounds. In addition to working, learning and volunteering programs we are active in different international projects. We have participated in various strategic partnership projects both in European and global level. We also take part in youth worker mobility projects, youth exchanges, trainings and other projects which we find worthwhile for our work and priorities. We are a non-profit and non-governmental body. Our office is in Helsinki in Allianssi-talo and we are affiliated with the Finnish National Youth Council Allianssi which has over 130 national member organisations.

The ESC volunteering team Baltic Sea Tallinn Estonia took place from 13.-28.8.2026! 🇪🇪 The team's work focused especially on the restoration of the Pääsküla Bog, with an aim to maintain its ecological system and balance. Volunteers also participated in tasks on local seaside meadows, where they cleaned the area from old abandoned military tires. Read below how David, one of the volunteers, describes his experience! 👇

"My favourite memory was sitting on the road beside the edge of the forest, having lunch with my new friends and simply enjoying a calm, sunny August day in a country that I had never thought about visiting. I learned that a small group of well-organized young people can do a lot for a local community by doing simple tasks that can have a big impact on the environment. It inspired me to think about ways in which I could contribute to my own municipality and the area where I live.

I would definitely recommend volunteering teams. It was one of the most beautiful experiences because it provided so many opportunities to network, learn about different people, their habits and ways of living, and take action. I would suggest volunteering to young, highly social people because that is really what it is all about. At the end of the day, people create the mood, not the place or the time."

A few days ago our ESC volunteering team Sea Fortress Suomenlinna ended in Helsinki! 🇫🇮 The volunteers got to live in the marine environment of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Suomenlinna, their work aiming to raise awareness of the need to protect and promote common World Heritage and European Cultural Heritage. 🌍 Read below how Riikka, one of the team leaders describes the experience. 👇

"During the team, we had the opportunity to contribute to the preservation of Suomenlinna, a World Heritage Site, through landscaping, traditional painting, and cultural activities. The work felt meaningful, and our group approached the entire experience with enthusiasm and inspiration.

The best part of the trip was spending time with new friends in the stunning scenery of Suomenlinna. I warmly recommend volunteering teams and youth exchanges to all young people. I’ve participated to many similar trips, and I don’t regret a single one!"

In Loviisa, Finland, the ESC volunteering team has just started their project, but they are already in full action! 💪🏻 The team's main focus has been creating decorations for the upcoming Night of the Arts, helping to bring a magical fairy-like atmosphere to the event.✨

The volunteers have also shown great initiative and enthusiasm by contributing their own creativity and cultural heritage. During the event, they will teach traditional dances, allowing the people of Loviisa to travel across Europe and beyond through music and movement. 💃🕺

The volunteering team received a warm welcome from the local youth centre staff and had the opportunity to discover Finnish culture through a hike, a barbecue, and a refreshing swim in the lake. 🌲

A week ago the 10 participants from the ESC volunteering team Nõva Summer headed home from Estonia 🇪🇪 after having passed two weeks participating in activities related to Baltic Sea protection and doing good for the local community! 🌊💙 Read below how participants Hubert and Tuulia describe their work and experiences 👇

"Our work was mostly cleaning the beaches from the trash in the Lääne region of Estonia. We also gathered blueberries and herbs for elderly people in nearby hospices. On the last day we planted some trees. The best part of the experience was the possibility to do something small for the world. Also, I liked the cultural aspects, like sauna nights, open air museums and visiting towns and cities like Tallinn, Haapsalu and Tartu."

"In our free time, we explored the nearby church and the forest museum, went swimming at the beaches, played different games, and visited other cities. In my opinion, the best part was when we took a motorboat to a nearby island, where we also did some cleaning. I would recommend volunteering to young people who want a new kind of experience traveling abroad while doing something meaningful and important."

The volunteering team Baltic Sea Archipelago Adventure Livonsaari has come to its end. Volunteers leave behind two weeks spent in the Finnish archipelago learning and engaging in concrete activities for the Baltic Sea and sustainable life. 🌱💚

Overall, the volunteers describe the project as an unforgettable, unique, and teaching experience. They got to participate in practical tasks, such as building with natural materials and making artwork out of collected litter, as well as learn about the Baltic Sea in the region by visiting surrounding islands. On their free-time, participants went to sauna, berry picking, and hikes, and got to know each other and the people living in the communal village of Livonsaari. The experience inspired many of them to do more volunteering or live more sustainably in the future. 🫶
