Hey! We are here in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪 at the 5th WFD pre-conference and conference. We have met many youth, and we’d love to celebrate International Youth Day with a Youth side event.

WFDYS Board recently held the 48th WFDYS Board Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya. Last time, WFDYS Board met in-person, was in Cape Town, South Africa, November 2023.

With four board members in attendance and the other three joining us online, we had a productive hybrid meeting. 💻

We had the opportunity to discuss several topics such as the upcoming WFDYS children camp, our Action Plan 2023-2027 and YOMs membership. 📝

We will also attend the WFD Pre-Conference and Conference 10-14 August, so we are excited to engage with the youth representatives! Come and talk with us if you are here in Nairobi, Kenya! 🇰🇪

We are thrilled to officially welcome Cha'nel Kaa-Luke to their new role as Secretary of the WFDYS Board! 🎉

Cha'nel brings passion, dedication, and valuable experience to the team, and we are confident that their contributions will strengthen our work in empowering deaf youth worldwide. ⚡️

Let’s all wish them the best of luck in this exciting journey! The WFDYS Board is looking forward to working closely with Cha'nel over the next two years to continue advocating for the rights and inclusion of deaf young people globally. 🌏

Announcement: Vacant Secretary Position

As you know, last week we shared a message from Cathy Geurts who resigned from her role of Secretary after 1 ½ years. This means that the Secretary role is now open.

We are delighted to announce an opening on our WFDYS Board! Please contact your YOM (Youth Ordinary Member) to submit your board nomination. The process of electing a new Secretary will be done independently from the WFDYS. If you have any questions about the election process or about the role of secretary, you can contact us at [email protected].

The deadline to express an interest for the Secretary role is on 16 February 2025 at 18:00 CET.
Important to remember: We cannot accept any nominations from these six (6) countries: Australia, Denmark, India, Morocco, South Korea, and USA.

WFD sent a separate email to our YOMs about the call for nominations, so if you did not receive this, please reach out to [email protected]. Thank you!

Dear everyone!
I am Cathy, and I have had the privilege of serving as the WFDYS Secretary for the past 1 1/2 years. Unfortunately, I have decided to resign from my position on the WFDYS board.
I want to extend my thanks to the WFDYS board for their support, shared experiences, and teamwork. I would also like to express my gratitude to all WFDYS Members for believing in me, electing me as Secretary, and working alongside me over the past 1 1/2 years.✨
