🔸
Alexandra Mitiku’s for every home, a stone is a performance, which meditates on the imbalance created by extractive forms of development. The title is a reference to 돌탑/doltap, Korean stone towers, where every stone is placed in prayer, remembrance; to leave a trace behind. Each 돌탑/doltap is a bridge, or a tension, between the metaphysical and the weight of physical matter.
Inspired by Deborah Levy’s term unreal estate, the performance examines how the market determines whose dream homes become tangible reality, and whose are still in limbo between memory and algorithm. for every home, a stone is structured like a spiral, where narratives of oppression/liberation, personal/collective, and natural/artificial are entwined.
