Founded in Finland in 2000, the International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA) is the official global governing body for Nordic walking, responsible for promoting, developing, and safeguarding the sport worldwide.

Great races don’t happen by accident.

Behind every successful Nordic Walking competition is a skilled team of officials and referees helping events run safely, fairly, and professionally.

The INWA National Race Official & Race Referee Training gives participants the chance to learn both the theory and practical side of race organisation through a blended learning format, including webinars, on-demand learning, on-site practical training, and live event experience at the INWA World Championships in Lahti.

This is more than a course. It’s an opportunity to step behind the scenes of an international Nordic Walking event and gain real experience as part of the championship team.

National Trainers teach the instructors who deliver Nordic walking. They are key to building strong, consistent standards within each member country.

If you are heading to Japan for the INWA Convention 2026, this is a smart step to take before it.

The National Trainer and Instructor Course is where progression becomes clear. Whether you are starting as an instructor or moving up to the National Trainer level, the course is structured, focused, and recognised across the INWA network.

You will build on the INWA 10 Step Method™, sharpen your teaching, and develop the skills needed to train others to a high standard. It is about creating confident instructors, raising quality, and strengthening Nordic walking in your country.

The course combines theory with practical training. You learn the framework, then apply it. No wasted content, everything has a clear purpose.

To take part, you will need authorisation from your INWA member country. This keeps standards aligned and ensures you are supported within your national structure.

Running just before the convention, it puts you in a strong position. You arrive qualified, prepared, and ready to make the most of everything that follows.
