From 17–20 August 2026, communities along the Kenya – Ethiopia border will come together to strengthen environmental peacebuilding, cross-border trade, youth agribusiness, and social cohesion.

The Camel Caravan is more than a journey; it is a platform for communities, youth and women to build shared prosperity, protect natural resources, and strengthen peaceful cross-border relationships.

CIFA Ethiopia is proud to have organized a Mentorship Capacity Building Training on Accountability and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Systems under the Together 2.0 Program.

Held in Adama from August 7–10, 2026, the training brought together peer humanitarian partners from GPDI, Pastoralist In Action Development Organization, Indigenous Strategy & Institution for Development -isid-Ethiopia, Elelle Pastoralist and Global Women Development Ethiopia (GWEDE) for four days of practical learning, experience sharing and peer mentorship.

The training provided an important platform for humanitarian organizations to strengthen their capacity in accountability, MEAL, organizational learning, evidence-based programming and effective engagement with communities. Beyond technical knowledge, participants shared experiences, challenges and practical approaches that can help improve the quality, transparency and impact of humanitarian interventions.

At CIFA Ethiopia, we believe that stronger local organizations build stronger humanitarian responses. Through mentorship, collaboration and peer-to-peer learning, we continue to invest in the capacities of local humanitarian actors and contribute to a more accountable, effective and locally led humanitarian system.

Today, as we mark the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we celebrate the communities whose knowledge, cultures and traditional institutions have protected land, water and biodiversity for generations.

In Borana, the wisdom of the Gadaa system, customary governance, indigenous rangeland management and traditional water systems continues to shape how communities live sustainably with nature. 🌱🐪💧

But Indigenous Peoples are increasingly facing climate change, drought, environmental degradation and exclusion from decisions affecting their lands and livelihoods.

At CIFA Ethiopia, we believe Indigenous knowledge is not a thing of the past — it is knowledge for the future.

🌿 Respect Indigenous knowledge.
🤝 Include Indigenous voices.
🌍 Protect their lands and ecosystems.

🏆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗜𝗙𝗔 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮✨👏

Barely two weeks after being recognized by the Dire and Moyale Woreda Education Offices, CIFA Ethiopia has once again been honored with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Moyale Woreda Health Office.

The award recognizes our continued partnership and contributions to strengthening community health through the Pilot Lishe Bora Cross-Border Project, currently being implemented in seven kebeles of Moyale Woreda. This initiative is generously funded by BOMA.ngo and is improving nutrition, promoting healthy practices, and enhancing the well-being of vulnerable communities.

This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff, the commitment of our partners, and the strong collaboration we have built with government institutions and local communities.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Moyale Woreda Health Office for this honor, to BOMA Kenya for its generous support, and to every member of the CIFA Ethiopia team whose hard work made this achievement possible.

The Lishe Bora Project is a cross-border initiative jointly implemented by CIFA Ethiopia and BOMA.ngo to improve the nutrition, health, and resilience of vulnerable pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in Ethiopia and Kenya. 🤝🌍

Through this initiative, we promote:

🍎 Healthy and diversified diets
🌾 Food security
📚 Behavior change and nutrition awareness
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Community empowerment and local capacity strengthening

Together, we are working to prevent malnutrition, improve household well-being, and equip communities with the knowledge, skills, and sustainable solutions needed to build healthier lives and stronger livelihoods.
