🌻 ActionAid Ethiopia Wins Grand Prize in Rural Development at the Crown of Humanity Awards 2026 🌻
ActionAid Ethiopia has been honored with the Grand Prize under the Rural Development Category at the prestigious Crown of Humanity Awards 2026 held at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa.
The award ceremony, organized by The Crown of Humanity Awards in collaboration with Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, celebrated organizations making transformative contributions to communities across Ethiopia. The event brought together humanitarian actors, civil society organizations, development partners, media institutions, government representatives, and distinguished guests to recognize excellence in social impact, community service, and sustainable development.
ActionAid Ethiopia received the prestigious recognition for its outstanding contribution to rural development through impactful programs focused on women’s empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, and community transformation across the country.
Since beginning operations in Ethiopia in 1989, ActionAid Ethiopia has continued to support vulnerable and marginalized communities through integrated development and humanitarian interventions. The organization’s work focuses on women’s economic empowerment, climate-resilient agriculture, rural livelihood improvement, education access for girls and marginalized children, humanitarian response and recovery, and the protection of women and girls from violence and harmful traditional practices.
In 2025, ActionAid Ethiopia achieved significant scale and impact across development and humanitarian programming. The organization directly reached 177,692 individuals, of which 93,977 were women. Additionally, 681,987 individuals were reached through awareness-raising, communication, and advocacy campaigns.
The Rural Development category also featured respected organizations highlighting the significance of ActionAid Ethiopia’s achievement among strong national competitors. Receiving the Grand Prize reflects the dedication and collective efforts of ActionAid Ethiopia’s staff, partners, community leaders, women’s groups, supporters, and the rural communities whose resilience and collaboration continue to create meaningful and lasting change throughout the country. The recognition further reinforces the importance of investing in inclusive and community-driven development approaches that prioritize social justice, gender equality, resilience, and sustainable progress.
As Ethiopia continues to face social, economic, and climate-related challenges, the Crown of Humanity Award serves as a powerful reminder that collective action, local leadership, and people-centered development can create hope, dignity, and long-term transformation for future generations.
