The Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), a volunteer-based Association established in 1966. FGAE is one of the prominent nongovernmental organizations that has been contributing to the national effort to fulfill the unmet need and continuously growing demand for modern family planning and reproductive health services by targeting poor, under-served, youth and marginalized segments of th
e population in the country for 54 solid years. FGAE is mainly a volunteer based organization and has gone through a series of institutional development stages to assume its present status of national significance and recognition at the international level. FAGE is now registered as an Ethiopian Residents Charity Organization (under certificate number 0475), is also an accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). FGAE provides SRH services through its owned clinics, private and public health facilities. Furthermore, its programmatic activities and services gradually spread all over the country. The association has 800 regular staffs and more than 8152 program and policy volunteers supporting its great mission. Currently, FGAE is a network of its own 8 branch offices, 7 higher clinics, 15 Medium SRH clinics, 13 Youth centers, 10 S*x workers friendly clinics (SWFCs), and 1 Gynecology and Obstetrics specialty clinic. Besides its own clinics, the association is working in partnership with 364 public health facilities, 448 family health network clinics (FHNCs) throughout the country. Through these service outlets, the Association provided high quality, gender-responsive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services to poor women, men and young people. Services provided include Comprehensive Family Planning, Comprehensive Abortion Care, HIV testing, STIs screening and Management, HIV/AIDS care and treatment, Maternal health services (ANC, delivery and PNC); Gynecological care, Cervical cancer screening and treatment and Infertility care and clinical support for survivors of sexual violence.
