On September | Monthly Dialogues | Dudahida Woreda, Jigjiga City

CAYO conducted monthly dialogues with Women Protection Group (WPG) members in Kebele 06 and Girls Shine Group members in Kebele 07.

The sessions provided safe spaces to discuss issues affecting women and girls, strengthen awareness, build confidence, and promote community protection and leadership.

Together, we continue working toward safer, more inclusive communities free from VAWG, HTPs, and child marriage.

Being implemented by CAYO and funded by the Solidaarisuus under the Small Grants Mechanism (SGM).

On September 29–30, 2026, CAYO successfully organized a two-day Capacity-Building Training for Emerging CSO’s at Royal Hotel, Jijiga, Somali Region.

The training brought together emerging CSOs to strengthen their capacities in digital advocacy, human rights, social justice, participatory leadership and inclusive coalition-building.

The training was conducted as part of the project “Empowering Civil Society Groups for Social Justice and Resilience, funded by AFD through the CSIF II and managed by the CSRC.

On September 28, 2026 | Community Awareness Campaign

CAYO, in collaboration with local authorities, conducted a community awareness campaign in Dudehide Woreda, Jigjiga City Administration, focusing on the prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls, FGM/C and Child Marriage.

The campaign brought together representatives from Kebele administrations, community elders, women, young girls, and other community members to strengthen awareness, encourage open dialogue, and promote collective action to prevent violence and harmful practices.

👥 The campaign reached about 250 people, the majority of whom were women and girls. In addition, approximately 100 Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials containing key messages on preventing FGM/C, VAWG, and child marriage were distributed across the kebeles in both Somali and English.

Through community-led awareness and engagement, CAYO continues to strengthen local action and promote safer communities where women and girls can live free from violence and harmful practices.

CAYO was pleased to join Ugaaso Women Dialogue Space -UWDS and other valued partners, including government stakeholders, youth, CSOs, and community actors, to commemorate the International Day of Peace under the theme “Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.”

We are proud to contribute to this collective effort to promote peace, dialogue, and safer communities, together with UGAASO, SRYC, and CYRO.

We successfully conducted a monthly discussion session with Women Protection Group members, creating a safe space to discuss key issues affecting women and girls, strengthen community awareness, and promote protection.

Through regular dialogue and community engagement, the Women Protection Groups play a vital role in promoting awareness and contributing to safer communities free from VAWG, HTPs & Child marriage.
