Our brilliant project manager at The Community Project: Ethiopia, Professor Fikeremariam Negash, skillfully leads our school construction in Ethiopia, working with Architects Without Borders, Oregon and 3 Engineers Without Borders teams: Portland, Maine, South Denver, Colorado, and Portland, Oregon. Much loved in our village and by the city fathers, he volunteered with no pay, working with us for 6 years before he took the lead.

Professor Fikeremariam is a structural engineer, teaching civil engineering at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University in the capital. Every challenge he handles with team effort, stunning innovation and wise decision making. We are grateful for him every single day!

Ethiopian national treasure, Dr. Abiyou Tilahun, recognized plant biologist and expert in biodiversity leads The Community Project: Ethiopia Sustainable Agriculture arm of our project and is the founding Director of our STEM program. It is the only STEM program in the nation in an elementary school. He teaches at Debre Birhan University and also holds the illustrious position of Ankober Medicinal Plant and Biodiversity Management Project Coordinator for the country. Through his groundbreaking research in our school plant nursery, which he created, Dr. Abiyou has brought bamboo, apples and enset (false banana) to the region as new crops for our farmers. Our school campus is now a farm. His work is changing the lives of our students and the future of the region. We are deeply grateful for his gifts to our children every day. He is teaching them to grow their own food.

Two more buildings to go! Our village in Ethiopia asked our Habitat for Humanity team, building houses, to help them build a school for their children. Children were everywhere playing. Thanks to Engineers and Architects Without Borders USA, giving their hearts and skills, we are building for 1000 children K-8th grade. So far we have 489 students, kg-6 and 312 STEM students, 72 are from the Beta Israel community. We put in a farm to feed hungry people, bamboo propagation and apples for new crops.

With our great thanks we will keep building together with friends across the world. These are our children.❤️ https://communityproject.org/donate/

We have 489 hard working students from kindergarten to 6th grade and 312 STEM students in the only elementary STEM program in all of Ethiopia.
Our school is a model for Ethiopia as we grow food and help sustain our village with food and microbusiness. We are so grateful for a hand to complete 4 more classrooms for these precious children. We need materials for walls and windows and doors and a beautiful roof. All will be handmade! Thank you so much dear friends for helping us build this beautiful home for education and opportunity for our children. Happy New Year and best wishes to each of you across the world❤️. To give a hand, thank you so much!

Thanks to you all for your support. In the midst of gripping challenges, we have built the foundation for 4 more classrooms, hand-compacting every inch. Ready for walls, we need your help.
