We are deeply saddened to share that Mr. Minho Choi, Representative of Good Neighbors Ukraine & Romania and former Secretary General of Good Neighbors Global Partnership Center, passed away peacefully in Romania on April 28, 2026.

In 2011, he was ordained as a pastor. The following year, he began his first mission with Good Neighbors, and what followed was fourteen years of life given fully to others.

From May 5-7, 2026, Good Neighbors Ethiopia hosted the Good Neighbors Africa Regional Partnership Meeting at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Addis Ababa by bringing together GN Africa partnership countries leadership to redefine the organization’s role in an evolving digital landscape.

The event opened with remarks from the Good Neighbors Africa Regional Coordinator, Mr. Namun Heo, who set the stage for a series of high-level discussions.

The agenda focused on both Global Agendas and regional agendas to redefining the role of Good Neighbors in the AI era, alongside integrated strategies for program innovation and resource mobilization and attentions to internalization of GN charter.

Throughout the three-day meeting, attendees explored updates on strategic approaches to expanding funding opportunities, and new frameworks for organizational direction.

Participants engaged in sharing and deep discussions regarding the internalization and implementation of the GN Charter, as well as the global HR, strategic directions and compliance audits provided by the Global Partnership Center.

A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to a fruitful and participatory open discussion, where representatives from ARCO, Partnership countries and Support countries shared successful strategies for country office management and learned from various country-specific success stories.

A highlight of the gathering involved the GN Ethiopia Alumni Founding Committee. Three alumni shared their personal journeys, describing how their lives were transformed from being beneficiaries to becoming active contributors to their communities. They outlined their vision for a large-scale alumni network designed to provide mutual support and generate local funding for future initiatives.

The meeting created successful participation from GPC Korea, ARCO, GN Taiwan, GN Japan, various GN Africa partnership countries representatives and local leaders.

After Concluding the event, the participants visited the Good Neighbors Ethiopia Head Office, where the staff provided a warm welcome with a traditional coffee ceremony, offering a meaningful cultural conclusion to the strategic partnership sessions.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) has formally established its Alumni Foundation Committee during an inaugural meeting held at Tirar International Hotel in Addis Ababa, marking a key milestone in strengthening long-term collaboration and community engagement.

The meeting brought together alumni members and organizational leaders to lay the groundwork for a structured alumni network aimed at advancing sustainable community development initiatives.

The session was opened by GNE Country Director Mr. Younsu Kim, who emphasized that membership in the GNE community represents a lifelong bond. He underscored the importance of continued engagement, solidarity, and mutual support among alumni in contributing to shared development goals.

Following his remarks, GNE General Manager Mr. Alemayehu Mitiku presented the strategic roadmap designed to empower alumni and enhance collective efforts toward meaningful social impact.

Participants expressed strong enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the organization’s mission and collaborating on future initiatives.

A key outcome of the meeting was the formal election of a seven-member Alumni Foundation Committee, consisting of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, and representatives responsible for Communication and Outreach and Event Coordination.

On March 27, 2026, U.S. Ambassador Ervin J. Massinga visited the Benishangul-Gumuz Region to observe the impact of the “Enhance Livelihood and Economic Opportunities for Refugees and Host Communities” project.

The initiative, implemented by Good Neighbors Ethiopia in partnership with UNHCR and the Refugees and Returnees Service, focuses on strengthening resilience and promoting self-reliance among refugees and host communities.

Accompanied by GNE Country Director Younsu Kim and UNHCR representatives, the Ambassador visited the Ura Camp, where he engaged with community members and toured various project activities.

The delegation also reviewed key infrastructure developments, including newly constructed access roads, multipurpose facilities, and market shelters.

These improvements are playing a crucial role in enhancing economic opportunities and fostering stronger social cohesion between refugees and host communities.

During the visit, Ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the progress achieved, particularly in strengthening social cohesion between the two communities (Refugees & Hosts) despite ongoing challenges.

He noted that the positive outcomes were clearly visible across the project sites implemented by Good Neighbors Ethiopia and reflected the effectiveness of the collaborative efforts.

A great milestone was reached yesterday as the new Cheki Health Center in Angolella Tera Woreda, North Shewa, Amhara Regional State, was officially inaugurated.

The new health center, a collaborative effort, was built at an astonishing cost of more than 22 million ETB. The construction of the Card Room, toilet facilities, and a safety tank was funded by Good Neighbors Ethiopia's Angolella Tera Community Development Project, with a total investment of approximately 𝟒.𝟒𝟔𝟕 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐓𝐁.

This health center marks a significant breakthrough in enhancing community health services, and providing essential healthcare-related services to the local community.

The ceremony was attended by higher regional government officials, including the North Shewa Administrator, Mr. Mekasha Alemayehu, as well as heads of various government offices, the General Manager of Good Neighbors Ethiopia, Mr. Alemayehu Mitiku, Angolella Tera CDP Manager, Mr. Dibaba Dinka, Angolella Tera CDP teams, and local communities.

During the inauguration ceremony, the North Shewa Administrator Mr. Mekasha Alemayehu, recognized Good Neighbors Ethiopia and awarded a recognition certificate for its invaluable contributions to the construction of the new health center and dedication to improving the health of the community.

Mr. Alemayehu Mitiku, General Manager of Good Neighbors Ethiopia, and Mr. Dibaba Dinka, CDP Manager of Angolella Tera, received the award from his Excellency Mr. Mekasha Alemayehu, the North Shewa Administrator.

Good Neighbors Ethiopia reiterated its commitment to continuing support for community health initiatives in the intervention area, ensuring sustainable improvements in health services and community well-being.

Keeping the community’s health and the well-being is a key goal for Good Neighbors Ethiopia, and excited to see the positive impact this facility will have in the days to come.

Transforming Health and Hygiene: GN Ethiopia Inaugurates Milestone Service at Yekatit 25 School, Aposto.

On October 7, 2025, GN Ethiopia Sidama CDP achieved and inaugurated a significant milestone in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene facilities at Yekatit 25 School in Yirgalem Aposto, Sidama, Ethiopia.

This project was made possible through collaboration between Good Neighbors Ethiopia, Family Mart, and ITOCHU Corporation.
The newly established and inaugurated facilities include four toilets to enhance sanitation for students, two Showers, eight -Pipe Handwashing Basin encourages students to maintain hygiene, and 10,000-Liter Water Tanker (Roto) ensures a consistent supply of water for the school community.

The inauguration event was attended by Good Neighbors Ethiopia Country Director, Mr. Younsu Kim, distinguished representatives from Family Mart and ITOCHU Corporation, Yirgalem town Mayor, officials, GNE Sidama CDP team, Yekatit 25 School principals, teachers, and students from the school's Gender club, and community leaders.

This transformative project not only enhances the facilities available at Yekatit 25 School but also plays an important role in promoting health education and hygiene practices among students.

October 2, 2025 – In a significant contribution to healthcare in the region, Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) officially handed over essential medicine supplies to the Tigray Regional Health Bureau and Ayder Referral Hospital today.

The donation ceremony took place at the Ayder hospital, attended by Mr. Younson Kim, Country Director of Good Neighbors Ethiopia, Mr. Temesgen Afework, Planning and Development Department Manager, Mr. Genetu Fekadu, Operations Department Manager, GNE Tigray Project team, Tigray regional state, and local kebele representatives.

The supplies, which include a variety of essential medicines, are aimed at supporting healthcare services and addressing the immediate medical needs of the local population. This donation comes in light of ongoing efforts to repair and enhance Tigray's health-care system, which has faced numerous challenges in recent years.

In addition to the handover event, two project closure ceremonies were held, and the team visited Tigray project operations in kebeles, such as the School Feeding program and the Livelihood Restoration.

On September 23, 2025, the Good Neighbors Ethiopia was successfully launched Assosa Community Development Project in Assosa town, Benshangul-Gumuz Region State, Ethiopia.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Namun Heo, Good Neighbors Africa Regional Coordinator, Mr. Younson Kim, Country Director of Good Neighbors Ethiopia, GNE Planning and Development Department Manager, GNE Assosa Project Team, and Senior Regional Government Representatives.

The Community Development Project aims to holistically empower children and communities by ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and WASH services, while also strengthening child protection, promoting environmental sustainability, and fostering economic empowerment.

The proposed project will reach a total of 55,400 beneficiaries. Of these, 5,400 individuals (2,862 male and 2,538 female) will directly benefit from the project interventions, while an additional 50,000 individuals will benefit indirectly.

To implement the planned activities, the project has allocated a total budget of USD 1,295,818 (ETB 198,047,543). The project is funded by the Global Partnership Center through the Sponsorship Program. The project is effective for a period of five years, starting from July 1, 2025, to June 2030.

During the event, an overview of Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) and the project document was presented and discussed with the participants to ensure a common understanding of the planned activities.

At the closing session, the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State representative expressed appreciation and delight for the opening of the new Community Development Project (CDP) in Assosa.

For Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE), the newly launched Assosa Community Development Project (CDP) is the eighth sponsorship-based community project, other than its grant-funded projects. In total, GNE currently supports more than 14,500 sponsored children across all its sponsorship-based projects.
