Today marks the final day of “Grammar of Healing,” an art exhibition organized by AHRE. The exhibition showcased creative works produced by survivors, with the support of collaborating artists. Centered on the theme of transitional justice, the initiative sought to raise public awareness and foster dialogue on justice, memory, and healing.
During the exhibition, a series of complementary activities were held, one of the activities being the survivor- artist talk held on September 5/2026, which highlighted personal experiences and the transformative power of art.
Through this holistic process, the exhibition not only displayed powerful artistic expressions but also created a safe and supportive space for storytelling, reflection, and community engagement. Overall, the initiative has been instrumental in promoting healing, building resilience, and advancing conversations around transitional justice.

AHRE has successfully held the opening ceremony of its exhibition, Grammar of Healing. The exhibition features artworks inspired by the experiences and stories of survivors of human rights violations in the context of transitional justice.
The opening brought together survivors, artists, civil society representatives, and art enthusiasts. The event also featured a panel discussion with respected professionals exploring the intersections of transitional justice, healing, and art, and highlighting the role of creative expression in supporting healing, remembrance, and dialogue.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until September 10, 2026, at Studio 11 Art Gallery, Bole, located on the first floor of Zemilo Hotel Apartment, Addis Ababa, next to the Ambassador Hotel.
We warmly invite the public to visit the exhibition and engage with these powerful artistic expressions of memory, resilience, and healing.

AHRE successfully conducted a comprehensive three-day training on Transitional Justice, Art, and Trauma-Informed approaches for CSO representatives, artists, survivor associations, and survivors. The training strengthened participants’ understanding of how art can be used to support healing, enable meaningful dialogue, and promote trauma-sensitive engagement in transitional justice processes.
Following the training, AHRE facilitated five days of art co-creation session involving survivors and artists. This session provided a safe and guided space for collaborative creativity, reflection, and storytelling, allowing participants to express experiences and perspectives through meaningful art forms.
Through these coordinated activities, a total of 19 art works were developed by the participants. The art works will be showcased to the public through an art exhibition in the near future.

AHRE, with funding from AFD, has successfully conducted its third round of safeguarding training in Debre Birhan. The training specifically focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and workplace harassment for employees, workers, and trade union representatives.

During the session, an opening remark was delivered by Dergu Aferu a representative from the Debre Birhan Bureau of Labor and Skills. AHRE then officially handed over the safeguarding manual titled “Workplace Safeguarding Manual on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), and Workplace Harassment.”

The manual will be disseminated to industries in Debre Birhan so that each organization can adapt it to its specific context.

AHRE, with funding from AFD, has successfully conducted its second round of safeguarding training, with a particular focus on GBV and workplace harassment, for employees, workers, and trade union representatives in Bahir Dar.

The training was held over two days, with participants from various industries, including employer representatives, employees, and trade union representatives.

During the training, an opening remark was delivered by his excellency Dr. Sibuh Gebeyew, Head of Amhara Regional Bureau of Labor and Skills, and AHRE officially handed over the safeguarding manual titled “Workplace Safeguarding Manual on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), and Workplace Harassment.” The manual will be disseminated to industries in the Amhara region so they can customize it for their respective organizations.

The manual was developed by AHRE to help organizations strengthen their safeguarding policies and serve as an initial document for those that do not yet have a safeguarding manual.
