Recognition Program for Count Me In/ አለሁበት Teams
The Office of Former Chief Justice Meaza Ashenafi, in collaboration with Justice For All-PF Ethiopia/ፍትህ ለሁሉም ኢትዮጵያ, hosted a recognition and award ceremony to celebrate the outstanding work of the ‘Count Me In’ Teams, as part of its efforts to promote a young men’s movement dedicated to eliminating gender-based violence (GBV).
The Count Me In initiative brings together young men leaders committed to preventing and responding to GBV within their communities. Over the past three months, four teams have actively implemented projects, demonstrating strong commitment, creativity, and measurable impact.
The Teams are named Hiwot, Purpose-Driven, His and Hers, and Voice4Change. Each team presented its achievements, lessons learned, and community-level interventions aimed at addressing GBV and promoting gender equality.
The event featured inspiring keynote addresses by H.E Meaza Ashenafi, Former Chief Justice of the Federal Supreme Court of Ethiopia, and Pastor Daniel G/Selassie, President of Justice for All-PF Ethiopia. Both speakers emphasized the importance of youth-led initiatives, collective responsibility, and the need to scale such impactful programs to a national level.
The competition was moderated and evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges; H.E Ashenefech Abebe, Vice President of the Federal First Instance Court; Judge Eyerusalem Demissie, and Judge Helewena Nesru. After careful evaluation, Voice4Change was announced as the winning team and formally recognized for its exceptional contribution.
The አለሁበት initiative stands as a powerful example of how men’s engagement in GBV issues can drive meaningful social change.
