As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, our organization conducted a vibrant awareness-raising campaign in Bahir Dar City on December 11.

The event was held in the presence of the Head of Women, Youth and Child Affairs of Bahir Dar City, along with representatives from relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The program included both in-hall sessions and colorful street shows, featuring a band and music team that actively engaged the public and delivered strong messages against violence.

It was a powerful and colorful day that helped create awareness at the city level and strengthened community commitment to ending violence against women and girls.

Yesterday, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali-Radovan visited our rehabilitation center in Addis Ababa.

We were honored to host the Minister and her delegation and deeply appreciate their previous support, which has strengthened our efforts to protect and empower vulnerable individuals. We look forward to continued collaboration as we work together to address human trafficking and exploitation.

The Agar Ethiopia Center operates across several regions using a survivor-centered, rights-based, and trauma-informed approach. Our services include safe shelters, mental health and psychosocial support, legal assistance, economic empowerment, and community-based prevention efforts.

As part of the global campaign, we were honored to welcome UN Women Ethiopia to our rehabilitation center. Their continued support plays a critical role in strengthening our services—from emergency shelter and psychosocial care to skills training and reintegration pathways for GBV survivors.

Through this partnership, we are able to expand survivor-centered, trauma-informed interventions that restore dignity, safety, and long-term opportunities for women and girls. We extend our sincere gratitude to UN Women Ethiopiafor their unwavering commitment and for investing in programs that create real impact and lasting change.

Happy New Year from all of us at Agar Ethiopia! 🎉✨

We had the pleasure of hosting a joyful and colorful New Year celebration at the Rehabilitation Center, in collaboration with Misale.

It was truly inspiring to see so many faces—government representatives, survivor-led organizations, former survivors, current residents, and our Board members—all coming together to celebrate hope, resilience, and new beginnings.

The energy was uplifting, and the stories shared reminded us of the strength and courage within our community. It was a special day filled with warmth, inspiration, and a shared commitment to building a brighter future.

Thank you to everyone who made this event so meaningful. Here’s to a hopeful, empowering year ahead! 🌟💪

Happy New Year 🎆

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a transformative project in Dukem subcity, Bishoftu City — a five-year initiative set to uplift over 2,500 vulnerable community members through inclusive development and support.

To mark this milestone and celebrate the Ethiopian New Year 2018, Agar Ethiopia hosted a heartwarming event at its training center filled with joy, generosity, and community spirit: Plate Sharing Ceremony: food items were shared with 100 elderly individuals and people with disabilities, reminding us that compassion is the true essence of celebration.

Back-to-School Support: 80 school children received essential learning materials to kickstart their academic year with confidence and excitement.

New Year Celebration: The day was filled with smiles, and renewed hope for a brighter future.

This is more than a project — it’s a promise to stand with those who need us most. Here's to building stronger, more inclusive communities together!

Awareness Campaign in Lemikura Subcity

Today, in collaboration with the Lemikura Sub city Justice Office, Agar Ethiopia Charitable Societies' Survivors Alliance Group, and Misale Returnees and Potential Migrants Organization, we held an impactful awareness-raising initiative across various roads and squares in Lemikura Sub city, Addis Ababa.

This effort comes at a time of deep sorrow, following the tragic shipwreck off the coast of Yemen that claimed the lives of many young Ethiopians. Their loss is a painful reminder of the urgent need for informed choices and safer migration pathways.

Agar Ethiopia remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering communities, supporting survivors, and preventing such tragedies through education and collaboration.

High-Level Regional Dialogue in Amhara: United Against Trafficking & Smuggling

Agar Ethiopia Charitable Society proudly organized a pivotal anti-trafficking and smuggling dialogue in Amhara Regional State, engaging stakeholders from migration hotspot zones, woredas, and regional institutions. With active participation from national and local media, the event spotlighted Amhara’s role as a source, transit, and destination region along the Northern Route of irregular migration.

🎖 In recognition of our efforts in preventing gender-based violence, supporting survivors, and strengthening migration management, Agar Ethiopia was honored with an award from the Amhara Bureau of Justice.

Together, we’re building safer pathways and resilient communities.
