Today, ASDEPO successfully conducted a Project Launching Ceremony for its initiative on building adaptive resilience for people affected by conflict and climate crisis, with a specific focus on: “Integrated GBV Prevention, Legal Aid, and Community Engagement Support for IDPs and Host Communities in Dasenech, Karat Zuria, and Segen Zuria Woredas, South Ethiopia.”
The project is implemented by ASDEPO (GBV prevention & community engagement) in partnership with Arba Minch University (legal aid services).
Participants from woreda, zonal, and regional levels attended the workshop, marking an important step toward improving access to GBV service ,justice and strengthening community resilience.

ASDEPO’s Board successfully held its end-of-2025 session alongside its first board meeting of 2026, marking a significant milestone in ensuring continuity, accountability, and forward planning.
Chaired by Ambassador Dina M***i, the meeting brought together board members for in-depth deliberations on key organizational priorities. Among the major agenda items were:

Presentation and approval of new policies and operational manuals aimed at strengthening governance and efficiency
Detailed presentation and discussion of the 2025 budget year, including both physical performance and financial reports
Strategic review and discussion of the 2026 Annual Plan to guide the organization’s direction in the coming year
The session emphasized transparency, strategic alignment, and a shared commitment to advancing ASDEPO’s mission.

On the final day of the 5th CSOs Week, ASDEPO, in collaboration with DEC, successfully organized a high-level panel discussion titled “Unlocking Pathways for Community-Led Development: Localization Meets .”
The session was officially opened by Belayhun Yirga, State Minister of the Ministry of Justice, who highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of local actors and civil societies in advancing sustainable and inclusive development.
The panel brought together representatives from civil society organizations, development partners, and key stakeholders to discuss localization, community leadership, and the importance of shifting power to grassroots actors. Participants raised important agendas and shared valuable insights on enabling an environment where communities can lead their own development priorities.
The discussion reaffirmed the importance of collaboration among government institutions, civil societies, and development partners in promoting meaningful and locally driven development.
ASDEPO and DEC remain committed to advancing localization and community empowerment through partnership with local and international actors.
