Grace is not a license to sin but power for Holy living!
These days I'm reading the most grace-centered books from New Testament: Romans, Hebrews and Galatians. They're books of salvation and the pillars of new covenant.
It gives me goosebumps when I read and reread these books of 'Salvation by grace.'
But I also feel sorry when I read them because frequently I boast for trying to fulfill the Mosaic law or keep the commandments: valuing myself and counting myself as a righteous person for trying to abide in the requirements of Mosaic Law by this weak flesh.
I learnt how bad and idiot I'm: judging others and trying to fulfill Mosaic Law requirements by this weak and sinful nature.
For sure, the problem is not endeavoring to be holy! It's not striving to be righteous. Because there is no a single license in the Bible that allows us to commit a sin. but it teaches us to be righteous and blameless in God's sight.
The problem is overrating our flesh~ trying to obtain God's grace, salvation and holiness without the work of salvation/the Cross!
Mosaic law is not for righteousness. It can't help us to be holy and blameless. it is not a guarantee for salvation.
For the scripture says, "The law is for lawless..."
The aim of the Mosaic law was to penalize and punish those ignorant and disobedient Israelites in the Kadesh wilderness.
1. We're unable to fulfill the law by our sinful nature.
2. If we can satisfy the requirements of Mosaic law it was not necessary for Jesus to die on the cross and shoulder our burden. But we were and are unable to do that.
3. If you value yourself as a righteous person for avoiding some don'ts of the Mosaic law, you're saying, "Jesus, you are not supposed to die on the cross for I can fulfill the law by myself, Jesus your sacrifice is unworthy for I'm not a sinner..."
That means you're denying your sin inheritance from Adam, denying you're sinner too, denying the sinfulness of your flesh, denying God's free gift, grace and claiming you're competent enough without Jesus to appear in the most Holy place.
When the Bible says this, is it giving you a permission to be lawless, disobedient or sin...? No! No! No!
It's saying, if you believe in the incarnation, death, resurrection, ascension and returning of Jesus Christ and then obtain holy spirit, God's grace will brood/hover over you to keep you beyond what the Mosaic law requires from your life. You will live soaring above the cloud of trespasses, sin and its consequences. You can't do that by your flesh, your flesh is sinful.
And it's only by believing in Jesus, who shouldered your burden and sacrificed alot for your sin, so that you can be righteous.
So, what is my message? If you're boasting for avoiding some don'ts of the 10 commandments or the 622 articles of the book of Laws, you're not the follower of Jesus, you're not really a believer. You're ignoring JESUS and relying on yourself to inherit the Kingdom of God. That means you're trying to directly go to heaven without the help & grace of Jesus.
If you think you're more righteous than people surround you for avoiding things... and if you're judging, ignoring and avoiding others surrounded you for their sin, your really not a believer or a Christian. Or you don't even know who Jesus is! You don't know what exactly grace is! You don't know the relationship among Law, sin, Jesus, grace and salvation.
Even though whatever you forsake and sacrifice for the love of Jesus is worthy, you're still a sinner by your nature. You're still blemish and unrighteous by your flesh. Whatever you sacrificed for Jesus, you're still sinful. It's only the grace and grace, the holy blood of Jesus Christ: only the free gift of Father God makes you holy and blameless!
👉"Let him who boasts boast in the Lord" Galatians 6:14
There was, is and will never be any worldly thing for us to boast.
Here is a point, If you think you're saved by grace and the Law is not for New Covenant believers, you're true. But by Grace you're supposed to live a very righteous life than what the Mosaic Law requires from you!
Grace~You have received supernatural power and authority to satisfy the very highest level of righteous life than what the Law expects from you.
Generally, Grace is not a license to sin but spiritual power and strength for Holy living!
If you think you're saved by grace, check yourself if you have these qualities/fruits👉 Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
And If there is no the above fruits in your life, you need to believe and obtain grace so that it can help you live a righteous life.
Shortly, In the Old Covenant we were required to fulfill the Mosaic law by our sinful nature and In the New Testament, we need to obtain grace for free so that it can enable and empower us to fulfill the requirements for righteousness.
That means, righteousness was very required and mandatory in the Old testament and still the same for New Testament believers.
Our pride is only in Jesus!
