Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) and Manna Children Sponsorship Family Aid and Community Development Organization have officially established a formal Work Partnership Agreement for Fiscal Year 2027.
This joint effort powers the Child Development and Sponsorship Program across project sites in Hawassa, Sebeta, Shashemene, Idola, and Yanase. VEA serves as the Lead Partner providing financial disbursement, technical guidance, and oversight, while Manna acts as the Implementing Partner delivering direct services to beneficiaries.
Key Program Goals & Impact:
Holistic Well-being: Improving educational, health, nutritional, and psychosocial outcomes for sponsored children and their families.
Direct Support: Providing educational stipends, school kits, bi-monthly cash distributions, and establishing child savings accounts.
Community Resilience: Building local capacity to foster sustainable child development.

Small Acts of Service, Big Impact!
As part of the Dire Dawa Project’s Summer Program, Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) children, parents, and project staff visited the Asegedech Asfaw Elders Center on July 30, 2026, to spend time with and support elderly residents.
4 volunteer parents and 17 children joined the activity, working alongside project staff to:
· Support elderly residents with personal care and hair grooming
· Clean bedrooms, living spaces, and the center’s compound
· Plant tree seedlings and contribute to a cleaner environment
· Share time, kindness, conversation, and encouragement with the elderly
The visit gave children a valuable opportunity to experience the meaning of compassion, volunteerism, respect, and social responsibility. For the elderly residents, the visit brought happiness and a sense of being remembered, respected, and valued.
VEA continues to encourage children and communities to serve others, care for one another, and make a positive difference—one act of kindness at a time.

From Shelter Items to Safer Homes
In Adi Bay, High School, and Semaetat IDP sites in Sheraro, Tigray, 3,000 households received essential shelter support—plastic sheets and ropes—from Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) in collaboration with its partners.
During our Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM), families shared inspiring feedback. Parents told us that the shelter materials have improved privacy, safety, and protection, while children can now sleep in spaces that feel more secure.
But PDM was not only about numbers—it was about listening to families. Communities expressed gratitude for the dignity these simple items restored, while also highlighting challenges, particularly for households that need additional support or materials to properly install the sheets.
This feedback guides us forward. With communities and partners, we’re committed to closing these gaps and ensuring every family can turn shelter items into a safer home.

🌱 Planting Hope in Dire Dawa!
As part of the “Planting Hope” initiative, the Vision for Ethiopia – Dire Dawa Child Development Project organized a tree seedling planting activity at Sabiyan No. 2 School.
30 students and parents, together with teachers and project coordinators, planted 50 food-producing seedlings to create a greener, healthier school environment.
The activity promoted environmental awareness, volunteerism, teamwork, and community responsibility. Students and teachers will continue caring for the seedlings to help them grow and benefit the school community for years to come.

Supporting 3,000 Displaced Households in Shiraro
Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA), in collaboration with EHF, IOM, and CCCM, successfully distributed essential shelter support to 3,000 internally displaced households (IDPs) in Shiraro.
The distribution focused on providing essential shelter items to help vulnerable families improve their living conditions and strengthen their safety and dignity.
This achievement reflects the power of strong partnership, community participation, dedicated volunteers, and coordinated humanitarian action.
Together, we continue working to ensure that displaced families receive the support they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Preparation of Meeting Minutes and Community Committee Formation
Minutes were prepared for all key coordination meetings, including the introductory meetings, the establishment of the Beneficiary Selection and Registration Committees, and the Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) Committees across all three project sites.
Both the Beneficiary Selection and Registration Committees and the CFM Committees were democratically selected from the IDP communities to ensure community ownership, transparency, and accountability throughout the project implementation.
During the orientation, members of the Beneficiary Selection and Registration Committees received detailed guidance on the beneficiary eligibility criteria and the selection process. They were instructed to register and select only households that meet the agreed vulnerability criteria, while applicants who do not meet the criteria would be excluded to ensure fair and impartial targeting.
The Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) Committees were also oriented on their responsibilities to receive, document, and resolve complaints and feedback from community members according to the established project guidelines. Community members were informed that if their concerns were not satisfactorily addressed by the CFM Committees, they could escalate their complaints through the IOM toll-free hotline (6396) for further review.
The establishment of these community-led committees has strengthened transparency, accountability, and community participation. Community members expressed their appreciation for the fair beneficiary selection process, the accessible feedback mechanism, and the overall transparency of the project implementation.

Vision for Ethiopia Launches Essential Shelter Items Distribution Project in Tigray

Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA), in collaboration with IOM, EHF, and the CCCM Cluster, officially launched the Essential Shelter Items (ESI) Distribution Project in Shire-Indaselassie on July 14, 2026.
The launch event was attended by representatives from the Regional Government, DRMC, Bureau of Finance and Economy, Bureau of Social Affairs and Women Affairs, and other humanitarian partners.
The project will provide tarpaulins and ropes to 3,000 vulnerable internally displaced households (IDPs) to help renovate damaged shelters and improve their living conditions.
Following the launch, VEA held a coordination meeting with Shiraro Woreda officials, CCCM representatives, and other stakeholders to present the project implementation plan. Government representatives provided guidance on establishing the Beneficiary Selection Committee and Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) to ensure a transparent, fair, and accountable distribution process.
The project will support:
📍 Adi-Abay IDP Site – 2,100 households
📍 Semaetat IDP Site – 500 households
📍 Shiraro High School IDP Site – 400 households
Together, we are strengthening shelter, restoring dignity, and bringing hope to families affected by displacement.

A Journey of Hope, Transformation, and Success 🎓
Today, we proudly celebrate the remarkable achievement of Blen Kiros, a graduate of Business Administration from Lucy College, Dire Dawa, and a shining example of the life-changing impact of child sponsorship.
Blen joined the Vision for Ethiopia Dire Dawa Project 16 years ago through Kebele 06 when she was only five years old. At the time, her family was facing severe economic hardship. Her mother struggled daily to provide for the family, which lived in a small and overcrowded house with no stable source of income. Meeting basic needs such as food, education, and clothing was a constant challenge.
Recognizing the family's vulnerability, Vision for Ethiopia enrolled Blen in its Child Sponsorship Program. Through the generous sponsorship of Ms. Zewdi Fikadu from Winnipeg, Blen received consistent support throughout her childhood and educational journey.
Over the years, the sponsorship program provided essential educational materials, including exercise books, pens, pencils, school uniforms, and school bags. The family also received food and hygiene support such as cooking oil, flour, pasta, macaroni, soap, hair oil, clothing, and cash assistance. Beyond material support, Vision for Ethiopia offered continuous social and emotional support that helped Belin stay focused on her education and personal development.
Despite the challenges her family faced, Blen remained dedicated, disciplined, and determined. She has always been known as a respectful and hardworking young woman. During her spare time, she supported her mother and contributed to the family's well-being while pursuing her studies.
Today, Blen's graduation is a testimony to what can happen when vulnerable children are given an opportunity, encouragement, and consistent support. Her success reflects the vision and mission of Vision for Ethiopia—to empower children and families to overcome poverty and build brighter futures.
We thank God for Blen's incredible achievement and extend our heartfelt gratitude to her sponsor, Ms. Zewdi Fikadu, whose generosity helped make this dream possible.
