Preparation of Meeting Minutes and Community Committee Formation
Minutes were prepared for all key coordination meetings, including the introductory meetings, the establishment of the Beneficiary Selection and Registration Committees, and the Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) Committees across all three project sites.
Both the Beneficiary Selection and Registration Committees and the CFM Committees were democratically selected from the IDP communities to ensure community ownership, transparency, and accountability throughout the project implementation.
During the orientation, members of the Beneficiary Selection and Registration Committees received detailed guidance on the beneficiary eligibility criteria and the selection process. They were instructed to register and select only households that meet the agreed vulnerability criteria, while applicants who do not meet the criteria would be excluded to ensure fair and impartial targeting.
The Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) Committees were also oriented on their responsibilities to receive, document, and resolve complaints and feedback from community members according to the established project guidelines. Community members were informed that if their concerns were not satisfactorily addressed by the CFM Committees, they could escalate their complaints through the IOM toll-free hotline (6396) for further review.
The establishment of these community-led committees has strengthened transparency, accountability, and community participation. Community members expressed their appreciation for the fair beneficiary selection process, the accessible feedback mechanism, and the overall transparency of the project implementation.

Vision for Ethiopia Launches Essential Shelter Items Distribution Project in Tigray

Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA), in collaboration with IOM, EHF, and the CCCM Cluster, officially launched the Essential Shelter Items (ESI) Distribution Project in Shire-Indaselassie on July 14, 2026.
The launch event was attended by representatives from the Regional Government, DRMC, Bureau of Finance and Economy, Bureau of Social Affairs and Women Affairs, and other humanitarian partners.
The project will provide tarpaulins and ropes to 3,000 vulnerable internally displaced households (IDPs) to help renovate damaged shelters and improve their living conditions.
Following the launch, VEA held a coordination meeting with Shiraro Woreda officials, CCCM representatives, and other stakeholders to present the project implementation plan. Government representatives provided guidance on establishing the Beneficiary Selection Committee and Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) to ensure a transparent, fair, and accountable distribution process.
The project will support:
📍 Adi-Abay IDP Site – 2,100 households
📍 Semaetat IDP Site – 500 households
📍 Shiraro High School IDP Site – 400 households
Together, we are strengthening shelter, restoring dignity, and bringing hope to families affected by displacement.

A Journey of Hope, Transformation, and Success 🎓
Today, we proudly celebrate the remarkable achievement of Blen Kiros, a graduate of Business Administration from Lucy College, Dire Dawa, and a shining example of the life-changing impact of child sponsorship.
Blen joined the Vision for Ethiopia Dire Dawa Project 16 years ago through Kebele 06 when she was only five years old. At the time, her family was facing severe economic hardship. Her mother struggled daily to provide for the family, which lived in a small and overcrowded house with no stable source of income. Meeting basic needs such as food, education, and clothing was a constant challenge.
Recognizing the family's vulnerability, Vision for Ethiopia enrolled Blen in its Child Sponsorship Program. Through the generous sponsorship of Ms. Zewdi Fikadu from Winnipeg, Blen received consistent support throughout her childhood and educational journey.
Over the years, the sponsorship program provided essential educational materials, including exercise books, pens, pencils, school uniforms, and school bags. The family also received food and hygiene support such as cooking oil, flour, pasta, macaroni, soap, hair oil, clothing, and cash assistance. Beyond material support, Vision for Ethiopia offered continuous social and emotional support that helped Belin stay focused on her education and personal development.
Despite the challenges her family faced, Blen remained dedicated, disciplined, and determined. She has always been known as a respectful and hardworking young woman. During her spare time, she supported her mother and contributed to the family's well-being while pursuing her studies.
Today, Blen's graduation is a testimony to what can happen when vulnerable children are given an opportunity, encouragement, and consistent support. Her success reflects the vision and mission of Vision for Ethiopia—to empower children and families to overcome poverty and build brighter futures.
We thank God for Blen's incredible achievement and extend our heartfelt gratitude to her sponsor, Ms. Zewdi Fikadu, whose generosity helped make this dream possible.

Vision for Ethiopia, in collaboration with Children Believe, proudly donated exercise books, printing paper, pens, pencils, and school bags to students in Shire. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting children's education and creating a better learning environment for every child.
We believe that access to essential school supplies helps students stay motivated, succeed academically, and build brighter futures. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and strengthening communities through education.

Vision for Ethiopia, in collaboration with Children Believe Ethiopia, conducted a Parents and Caregivers Training on Positive Parenting and Child Discipline on May 18, 2026, in Shire, Tigray.

The training focused on promoting positive parenting approaches, strengthening healthy communication within families, and encouraging non-violent child discipline practices that support children’s emotional, social, and psychological well-being.

Parents and caregivers participated in interactive discussions and learning sessions aimed at creating safer, more supportive, and nurturing environments for children to grow and thrive.

Vision for Ethiopia remains committed to empowering families and protecting children through community-based awareness and capacity-building initiatives.

🤝 Building Partnerships for Community Empowerment 🤝

Vision for Ethiopia had the opportunity to visit Oromia Cooperative Bank to discuss partnership and cooperation opportunities, particularly in strengthening community-based financial initiatives through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA).

A VSLA is a self-managed, community-based financial group that enables people—especially those in rural and underserved communities—to save money safely, access small loans, and receive emergency financial support without depending on formal banking systems. These initiatives play a significant role in improving livelihoods, promoting financial inclusion, and creating economic resilience within communities.

During our visit, the team at Oromia Cooperative Bank shared valuable insights about their extensive work and outreach across Ethiopia, highlighting how the bank supports communities through accessible financial services and development-focused programs.

Vision for Ethiopia looks forward to creating meaningful collaborations that empower vulnerable communities, strengthen economic opportunities, and promote sustainable development throughout Ethiopia.

Empowering Our Team for Greater Impact

Vision for Ethiopia successfully conducted a three-day capacity-building training for all staff in Addis Ababa, focused on strengthening performance in a rapidly changing environment.

The training, titled “Delivering Results in Times of Change: Outcome-Based Project Reporting & Change Leadership,” was delivered by EcoVita Training and Consultancy. It provided practical tools and insights to enhance outcome-oriented reporting, adaptive leadership, and effective project implementation.

Throughout the sessions, participants actively engaged in discussions, shared experiences, and developed skills to better navigate change while maintaining a strong focus on impact and accountability.

This initiative reflects Vision for Ethiopia’s continued commitment to investing in its people—ensuring our team is equipped to deliver meaningful and sustainable results for the communities we serve.

Strengthening Connections Across Continents

Mr. Esayas from Edmonton, Canada, and P. Melke from Winnipeg, Canada, recently visited the Vision for Ethiopia head office for a meaningful and productive discussion.

During their visit, they explored how child sponsorship programs are being managed and ensured that the well-being of sponsored children remains a top priority. The conversation also focused on strengthening the relationship between sponsors and children—creating more personal, transparent, and impactful connections.

In addition, valuable ideas were shared on how to further improve the sponsorship experience, making it more engaging and sustainable for both sponsors and the children they support.

This visit reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the impact of sponsorship and building stronger bridges of hope between communities.

Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) recently conducted a meaningful visit to its Debre Birhan project site, strengthening its commitment to supporting vulnerable children and their families.
During the visit, the President of Covenant International, along with the Director of VEA, shared encouraging and inspiring messages with the children. They emphasized the importance of education, hope, and perseverance, reminding the children that they are valued, supported, and capable of achieving a brighter future.
The visit created a joyful and emotional atmosphere as children and their parents gathered to express their heartfelt appreciation to their sponsors. Through songs, words of gratitude, and warm interactions, families conveyed how the sponsorship program has positively impacted their lives—providing access to education, care, and renewed hope.
