Today is World Atopic Eczema Day.

Our expert dermatologists will be recording video replies to your burning questions about atopic eczema. 🔥

👉 Check our socials for the answers you've been waiting for.

🤔❓ Why is this important?

230 million lives are impacted by atopic eczema (AE), also called atopic dermatitis. And yet, many hear that it is "just a rash." It means this chronic condition can be excluded from national health strategies, underfunded, and misunderstood.

Other people may not notice the things you go through with this condition — but you know it.

❌ Physical strain
You can't call in sick to your office or school just because all that involuntary scratching kept you up and you lost another night of sleep. 1 in 2 people with AE have disrupted sleep.

❌ Anxiety, stigma, isolation
Flare-ups are hard to hide—but why should you have to? No one should be bullied, ostracized, or made to feel lesser than because of how their skin looks. 1 in 6 people with AE experience depression.

❌ Financial strain
Many treatments aren't always insured—or even available worldwide. In Europe, adults with AE spend an average of €927 per patient per year in non-reimbursed, out-of-pocket costs.

These are systemic injustices that demand action.
✅ Recognition of atopic eczema as a chronic condition in national health strategies
✅ Equitable access to care and treatments
✅ More research

The WHA Resolution on Skin Diseases has given us a powerful tool. Now it's time to turn that resolution into action.

Today, we're doing something about it. Globally renowned dermatologists will record video replies to your questions about AE.

You ask. They answer.

On World Patient Safety Day, GAAPP is proud to join the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases (GARD) for a conversation on protecting patients with chronic respiratory conditions.

This year's theme — Safe care for life! — reminds us that safety is not just about avoiding harm. It is about doing the right things at the right time: ensuring access to essential medicines, preventing over-treatment and unnecessary interventions, and empowering patients and primary care teams to act as guardians of safe care.

🗓️ 17 September at 14:00 CEST

Expert speakers:
🎙️ Dr. Sarah Rylance — Overview of the global respiratory landscape and GARD's mission
