A high-level panel discussion brought together representatives from government, industry, training institutions, Industry, FAWE Ethiopia chapter and program participant to examine practical approaches for strengthening employability and entrepreneurship pathways for TVET students. Discussions focused on equipping young people with market-relevant skills, expanding industry linkages, and creating sustainable opportunities for self-employment and decent work, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration among key stakeholders to support successful transitions from training to livelihoods.

The streets of Addis Ababa, CMC were filled with energy this morning as participants in the FAWE Ethiopia Mastercard Foundation Phase II Program walked together toward the Addis International Convention Center. FAWE Ethiopia has organized Gender-Responsive Pedagogy (GRP) training under the ECWโ€“MYRP II Project, that was started on August 13, 2026, in ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ and Kewot ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ. The training brought together 74 participants (36 Female and Male 38 with PWD 1) from schoolteachers, school supervisors, directors and Woreda Education Office experts from target schools, with the objective of strengthening the integration of gender-responsive approaches in teaching, learning, and school management practices.

Across both locations, teachers, school leaders, supervisors, and education experts participated actively throughout the GRP cascading training. The sessions concluded with the development of practical school-level action plans and a shared commitment to strengthening Gender-Responsive Pedagogy, marking a meaningful step toward building safer, more inclusive, and gender-responsive learning environments for every child.

On the second day of the convening toward, stakeholders are turning their attention to one of the most important questions for TVET graduates: How can education providers, government, the private sector, and civil society work together to make young people more employable?

The public-private partnership discussions bring together representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Skills, regional structures, private companies, FAWE Ethiopia, and partner TVET institutions to explore how stronger collaboration can respond to labor-market demands and create better opportunities for graduates. The conversation is ultimately about connecting what young people learn with what the world of work needs.

The event is concluded taking the program to a big milestone by which Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was executed to establish a strategic partnership focused on youth employment, skills development, and industry collaboration. The signatories include the Amhara Region Bureau of Labor and Skills (BOLS), FAWE-Ethiopia, TVET institutions representatives, and representative industry partners.

One of today's key sessions brought together partner TVET institutions to share their experiences in implementing and adapting FAWE models, including Gender Responsive Pedagogy (GRP), TUSEME, and other empowerment approaches. From creating more gender-responsive learning environments to giving students greater space to identify challenges and speak out, the discussions showed how institutional practices can directly shape a student's experience and opportunity to succeed.

Higher officials from Ministry of Labor and Skills (including Advisor to the Minister and desk heads), Regional Labor and Skill Bureaus representatives, TVET deans/vice deans from the 35 partner TVET institutions, Private sector & industry representatives in the manufacturing sector, Representatives from 1st&2nd cohort program participants of the FAWE Mastercard Foundation phase II Program and FAWE Almuni are actively taking part on the session.

The major objective convening is to establish a platform for TVET institutions to share experiences related to their efforts in adopting and implementing the FAWE models and working to improve private public partnerships to better serve marginalized youth and create inclusive TVET.
