: 7 years ago today, the 8th convened under the theme "Political Dynamics in the Horn of Africa: Nurturing Emerging Peace Trends." It examined Ethiopia–Eritrea rapprochement and transitions in Sudan and South Sudan. Today, turning these into long-term regional integration remains a key priority.

On April 28, 2026, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana and Chairperson of the Tana Forum Board, hosted Tana Forum Board members, representatives from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia's (FDRE) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Tana Forum Secretariat representatives from the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS). Key decisions regarding the upcoming 12th Tana Forum were made by the Board Members:

- H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, Chairperson of the Tana Forum Board
- H.E. Catherine Samba Panza, Former President of the Central African Republic
- H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, Former President of the Republic of Kenya
- H.E. Dr. Lassina Zerbo, Former Prime Minister of Burkina Faso
- Amb. Tekeda Alemu, Former State Minister of Ethiopia
- H.E. Michelle Ndiaye, Africa Director, Open Society Foundations, former Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AUC in the DRC
- Prof. Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba, Founder of the PLO Lumumba Foundation and a consultant with Lumumba and Lumumba Advocates, Member of the Africa Justice Group (AJG)

Representatives from the government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) were present.
