With a commitment to each student and family for 5 years financially and with mentorship, the students have exciting futures.
Their personal growth and self confidence provides auch an uplift for their families who have only ever focused on survival.

Our proudest moment at Raey was witnessing the sheer joy and excitement on the graduation of Ayisha and Rediet.
This marked the completion of their Diploma of Nursing, and they now move on to their degree and specialisation.
As you can hear from our last interview, they have aspirations of family planning, paediatrics, and maternal health. Who would have thought that we could have two, and soon four, students embarking on life-changing careers?
The parents and guardians are still overwhelmed by emotion. It’s been a privilege watching the support from Raey, especially from our amazing Kaleb, their mentor.
I know Lou would be cheering them on. Her tenacity, kindness, and care are well represented by these students.
Thank you to all of you who have supported Lou’s vision and made this incredible scholarship so successful.

With local community support and our extended Raey family, Ethiopian Christmas celebrations followed on from our 20th Anniversary excitement.
On January 7 2026,there was a hot meal served for 600 students past and present, along with games and a nativity play.
The guardians supported our incredible cooks to serve the delicious Shiro.

Now this is team work.👏👏👏👏👏

For twenty years we have worked through continuous power outages
causing severe disruption.
No longer are we reliant on a shared mains.
We are so excited to show you our long awaited poles, which means a steady power source for Raey.

Happy New Year everyone.
We finished on a high with a 20 year celebration to complete 2025.
We have so many plans for 2026 and we certainly need and appreciate, your support as we work to strengthen our community and work towards self sustainability.

It didn’t take long for the cooks and students to be hooked on Genesis Nutritional Products !!
Today, the cooks made a chocolate smoothie and cups were emptied in record time. 😂

Nutritional intervention program

It was an incredible opportunity for Raey to host Badennhorst co founder, of the not-for-profit organisation KhulaNutrition which is based in South Africa and is focused on eliminating hunger and malnutrition in schools.

- Khula Nutrition builds kitchens using shipping containers (with
monitoring) to enable sustainable distribution of highly nutritious food in the form of porridge, as smoothie or bowl.

The Porridge mix is supplied by Genesis Nutritional Products.
GENESIS products encompass 55 essential nutrients, providing 100% of the daily recommended allowance of all 13 vitamins per 100g serving. They also contain selenium and a highly efficient prebiotic.
The preparation is so EASY – just add water.

Our cooks were very excited to learn mixing and blending techniques.

There are enormous health benefits for the gut, mental health and well as supporting the immune system which aligns
with Raey’s focus which has always been on children's health through nutrition.
It was fantastic to observe the tasting in action ( Strawberry won over banana flavour ) and RAEY are thrilled to be partnering wIth these incredible organisations.
