This Mother’s Day, we honor the strength, resilience, and unconditional love of mothers everywhere.

In line with this year’s theme, “The Great Unburdening,” CoSAP reaffirms its commitment to empowering women through Self Help Groups, shared responsibility, economic inclusion, and community support. When mothers are supported, families grow stronger, communities thrive, and change becomes sustainable.

Let us not only celebrate mothers today, but also lighten their burdens every day.

እናቶች ቤተሰብን ብቻ ሳይሆን ማህበረሰብንም በፍቅር፣ በትዕግስት እና በመስዋዕትነት የሚያቆሙ የሕይወት መሠረቶች ናቸው።

በዚህ ዓመት “ታላቁ ከሸክም መላቀቅ” በሚለው የእናቶች ቀን መሪ ሐሳብ፣ የእናቶችን ጫና መቀነስ፣ ኃላፊነትን መጋራት እና ድጋፍን ማጠናከር የሁላችንም ድርሻ መሆኑን ለማስታወስ እንወዳለን።

CoSAP በሴቶች የራስ አገዝ ቡድኖች (SHG) አማካኝነት እናቶችን በኢኮኖሚ፣ በማህበራዊ ድጋፍ እና በመተማመን ለማጠናከር ያለውን ቁርጠኝነት ይቀጥላል።

እናቶች ሲበረቱ ቤተሰብ ይበረታል፤ ቤተሰብ ሲበረታ ማህበረሰብ ያድጋል። 🌿

The 2026 SHGA Africa Meeting was successfully held from May 4–8, 2026, in Polokwane and Tzaneen, South Africa, bringing together representatives from East and Horn of Africa as well as Southern Africa regions for a week of learning, reflection, experience sharing, and strategic engagement. The meeting provided an important platform for participants to discuss the implementation progress of the Self Help Group Approach (SHGA) Program, reflect on challenges and opportunities, and strengthen collaboration among participating countries and partners.
Throughout the meeting, delegates from Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somaliland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Eswatini, and South Africa shared country experiences and practical lessons related to SHGA implementation, community empowerment, federation strengthening, fundraising, operational coverage, and climate change resilience, roles of CLAs and Federations in promoting sustainable community-led development and strengthening the SHGA movement across the region.
CoSAP has participated in the discussions, learning sessions, and field engagements to share Ethiopia’s experiences, achievements, and lessons in implementing the SHGA approach.
One of the major highlights of the meeting was the field visit coordinated by Keep The Dream 196 and dlalanathi in Tzaneen, where participants interacted directly with community structures and observed practical implementation experiences on the ground. The meeting concluded with collective action planning, reflections, and agreements on strategic priorities and the way forward.

ኮሳፕ ከሚያዝያ 24 እስከ 30 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም በደቡብ አፍሪካ ፖሎክዋኔ እና ዛኔን ከተሞች በተካሄደው የአፍሪካ የራስ አገዝ አሰራር ስብሰባ እና የልምድ ልውውጥ ላይ ተሳትፏል።
በዚህ የአንድ ሳምንት መርሃ-ግብር ላይ ከተለያዩ የአፍሪካ ሀገራት የተውጣጡ የKNH አጋር ድርጅቶች፣ ተወካዮች የተገኙ ሲሆን፣ መድረኩ የመማሪያ፣ የልምድ ልውውጥ እና የስትራቴጂካዊ ውይይት ማዕከል እንደነበር ተገልጿል።
በመድረኩ ከተነሱ ዋና ዋና ነጥቦች፦
• በልምድ ልውውጥ ከኢትዮጵያ፣ ኡጋንዳ፣ ኬንያ፣ ሩዋንዳ፣ ሶማሊላንድ፣ ዚምባብዌ፣ ዛምቢያ፣ ኤስዋቲኒ እና ደቡብ አፍሪካ የተውጣጡ ተወካዮች የራስ አገዝ ቡድን አሰራር እና አፈጻጸም ላይ ጠቃሚ ውይይቶችን አድርገዋል።
• በተግዳሮቶች እና መልካም እድሎች ተሳታፊዎች በስራ ሂደት የሚያጋጥሙ ችግሮችን እና ያሉ መልካም አጋጣሚዎችን በማጋራት በትብብር ለመስራት የሚያስችል ግንኙነት ፈጥረዋል።
• በመስክ ምልከታ በዛኔን ከተማ በDalelati (Keep The Dream 196) የተካሄደው የመስክ ጉብኝት ተሳታፊዎች ከማህበረሰብ መዋቅሮች ጋር ቀጥታ ግንኙነት በማድረግ ተግባራዊ ልምድ እንዲቀስሙ ረድቷል።
ስብሰባው በጋራ የድርጊት እቅድ፣ በስትራቴጂካዊ ቅድሚያ የሚሰጣቸው ጉዳዮች እና ወደፊት በሚወሰደው ቀጣይ እርምጃ ላይ ከስምምነት በመድረስ በስኬት ተጠናቋል።

CoSAP was honored to participate in the Project Closing Workshop organized by Timiret Lelewut Timret (TLT) in Adama.

The project, titled “Strengthen the Capacity of Self Help Group Institutions and Women Rights Organizations to be Strong Advocates for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment,” was implemented from November 1, 2024 to April 30, 2026.

The workshop created an important platform to reflect on the project’s achievements, lessons learned, and the collective efforts made to strengthen grassroots women’s institutions and advocacy for gender equality. It also highlighted the critical role of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and women-led organizations in advancing women’s empowerment, social inclusion, and sustainable community development.

CoSAP appreciates the dedication and commitment of TLT and all partners who contributed to the success of this initiative. We remain committed to supporting collaborative efforts that amplify women’s voices, strengthen local institutions, and promote inclusive development in Ethiopia.

ኮሳፕ በአዳማ ከተማ በተካሄደው የጥምረት ለለውጥ ጥምረት የፕሮጀክት ማጠቃለያ ዝግጅት ላይ ተሳትፏል።

ላለፉት 18 ወራት የተተገበረው ይህ ፕሮጀክት፣ የራስ አገዝ ቡድኖችን እና የሴቶች መብት ተሟጋች ድርጅቶችን አቅም በማጠናከር ለሥርዓተ-ፆታ እኩልነት እንዲቆሙ ያለመ ነበር። በዕለቱም የፕሮጀክቱ ስኬቶችና የተገኙ ልምዶች ተገምግመዋል።

ኮሳፕ ለጥምረት ለለውጥ ጥምረት እና ለሁሉም አጋሮች ምስጋናውን እያቀረበ፣ የሴቶችን ድምፅ ለማጉላትና አካታች ልማትን ለማረጋገጥ የሚደረጉ ጥረቶችን ለመደገፍ ያለውን ቁርጠኝነት ያረጋግጣል።

CoSAP and SHG member from Metebaber SHG in Addis Ababa shared experiences to Ministry of Women and World Bank organized workshop on the Productive Safety Net Program (the 6th round).

CoSAP member WEEMA international also shared their experiences of working with SHGs in Central Ethiopia.

Today in Assela, CoSAP participated in the closing workshop of the project “Labor Rights of Women Factory Workers” under the EU CSF+ Program, successfully implemented by New Bright Community Development Center (NBCDC).
The workshop provided an opportunity to reflect on the project’s achievements, share lessons learned, and celebrate the progress made in promoting the rights, dignity, and workplace protection of women factory workers. Through dedicated advocacy, awareness creation, and capacity-building efforts, the initiative has contributed to strengthening labor rights and fostering more inclusive and equitable working environments.
The successful implementation of this project by NBCDC demonstrates the vital role of civil society organizations in advancing social justice and empowering women in the workforce.
As the project comes to a close, its impact will continue to inspire future efforts toward gender equality, decent work, and sustainable change.
We extend our sincere appreciation to NBCDC, partners, stakeholders, and all participants for their commitment and collaboration throughout this important journey.
ኮሳፕ በአሰላ ከተማ በEU CSF+ ፕሮግራም አካል በመሆን የተከናወነው የሴት የፋብሪካ ሰራተኞች የስራ መብት ላይ ያተኮረው ፕሮጀክት የመዝጊያ ፕሮግራም ላይ ተሳትፏል። ፕሮጀክቱም በ ኒው ብራይት ኮምዩኒቲ ዴቨሎፕመንት ሴንተር (NBCDC) በተሳካ ሁኔታ የተተገበረ ሲሆን ይህ የመዝጊያ ውይይት የፕሮጀክቱን ስኬቶች ለመገምገም፣ የተገኙ ልምዶችን ለመጋራት እና በሴት ፋብሪካ ሰራተኞች መብት፣ ክብር እና የሥራ ቦታ ጥበቃ ላይ የተመዘገበውን እድገት ለማክበር አስፈላጊ መድረክ ሆኗል።

🚩Empowering women through shared experience 🤝✨
An inspiring Experience Sharing and Update Meeting on the Self-Help Group Approach (SHGA) was held in Kotebe Woreda 12, Addis Ababa, bringing together around 110 women from 6 newly established SHGs alongside representatives from well-established groups with rich, practical experience.
The session created a powerful platform for learning, reflection, and connection. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on:
🔤 Strengthening group management and leadership
🔤Addressing and resolving conflicts constructively and building social capital
🔤Expanding Income Generating Activities (IGAs)
🔤Improving understanding of loan management and financial accountability
🔤Exploring access to low-interest loans from banks and microfinance institutions
🔤 Reflecting on the value of staying in groups versus working individually
🔤The exchange of real-life experiences highlighted the transformative power of collective action. ✔️✔️Women left the session more confident, informed, and motivated to strengthen their groups and improve their livelihoods.
🔤Together, they are not just saving money—they are building trust, resilience, and stronger communities.
