PETCO Ethiopia, under the Mabqat Program Addis Ababa Cluster, facilitated a Business-to-Government (B2G) discussion forum that brought together small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and key government stakeholders in a constructive and solution-oriented dialogue.
The forum provided a valuable platform for SMEs to openly share the day-to-day challenges they face in operating and growing their businesses. Participants raised critical questions related to regulatory procedures, access to support services, market opportunities, and other operational bottlenecks affecting their business performance. Government representatives and decision-makers from relevant institutions actively engaged in the discussion, providing practical responses, clarifications, and commitments to address the concerns raised. Their participation created an important opportunity for direct communication and strengthened mutual understanding between the public and private sectors.
The discussion was highly productive, fostering stronger linkages between SMEs and government institutions and promoting collaboration to create a more enabling business environment. Such engagements are essential to empowering entrepreneurs, improving policy responsiveness, and supporting the growth of sustainable and inclusive enterprises.
Similar Business-to-Government (B2G) discussion forums will also be facilitated in the Dire Dawa and Hawassa clusters, extending this valuable opportunity to more SMEs across the country. The Mabqat Program is implemented by PETCO Ethiopia in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and two implementing partners: Center for Accelerated Women’s Economic Empowerment (CAWEE) and Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED).
