Progynist Joins the 7th National Election Observation Mission

Progynist is proud to participate in the 7th National Election of Ethiopia as an accredited domestic election observer. Following accreditation by the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), the organization has deployed its observation team across six towns in two regions and one city administration area where it operates.

Our observers will monitor the electoral process in Butajira and Hossana (Central Ethiopia Region), Bonga, Tepi, and Mizan (South West Ethiopia Region), and Yeka Sub-City Woredas 09 and 11 in Addis Ababa.

Progynist has officially closed the “Amplifying Women’s Role in Managing the Devastating Effects of War” project after two years of implementation. The project was led by Progynist in partnership with Pro Pride and Emmanuel Development Association, with financial support from UN Women Ethiopia through the Women, Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF).

Implemented in North Shewa Zone, particularly in Shewa Robit, the project aimed to empower women to participate in leadership and decision-making in managing humanitarian crises. Progynist closely monitored the implementation and conducted a final on-site evaluation with beneficiaries before the project close-out meeting held in Debre Birhan.

Through targeted interventions, the project achieved important results:
• Strengthened the capacity and resilience of women survivors, supporting their psychological healing and confidence.
• Restored livelihoods for 432 women, enabling them to start small businesses and rebuild their economic independence.
• Improved access to trauma care, including the construction of a three-room One-Stop Trauma Healing Center and provision of two rounds of essential drug supplies to Shewa Robit Health Center and Shewa Robit Hospital.

Progynist and its partners successfully delivered this impactful project, contributing to the recovery and empowerment of women affected by conflict.

We sincerely appreciate the generous support of UN Women Ethiopia (WPHF) and the cooperation of government stakeholders in North Shewa Zone, Shewa Robit, and Debre Birhan.

🌸 International Women’s Day – March 8, 2026 🌸

Today, Progynist joins the global community in marking International Women’s Day under the theme:

“Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.”

In Ethiopia, many women and girls still face difficult realities. Too many experience violence, including sexual and gender-based violence. Many live with deep psychological pain, displacement, and poverty. Behind every number is a woman, a mother, a sister, or a daughter whose dignity and safety must be protected.

On this important day, Progynist calls on all of us to take stronger action to end violence against women and girls, to ensure justice, and to create a society where every woman can live with dignity, safety, and hope.

When women and girls are safe, respected, and empowered, communities grow stronger and more peaceful. Together, let us stand for their rights, seek justice, and turn our commitments into real action.

✨ Happy International Women’s Day to all women and girls. Your strength, courage, and resilience inspire us every day.

🌟 2025: A Year of Achievements and Challenges 🌟

2025 was both a great and challenging year. Together, we accomplished so much contributing to the people we love, the country we cherish, and most importantly, the women we proudly stand for.

While it was a year of remarkable achievements, it was also a season of challenges that taught us invaluable lessons. As an organization with several partners across the world, we experienced firsthand how partnerships and funding can be affected by unexpected circumstances. These moments reminded us of the importance of resilience and innovation finding ways to continue supporting communities and women even in the most difficult times.

✨ Looking ahead, we are hopeful that 2026 will be brighter. With renewed energy and commitment, we will continue to deliver, serve, and empower.

🎉 Happy New Year to All! 🎉
