🛑 የኑሮ ተግዳሮቶችን ማሸነፍ
ይህ ጥረት ከመጀመሩ በፊት፣ በአካባቢው የሚገኙ ብዙ ወጣት ስራ ፈጣሪዎች ከባድ የኑሮ ፈተናዎችን ይጋፈጡ ነበር። ስለ ዘመናዊ የእንስሳት አያያዝ የነበራቸው ቴክኒካዊ እውቀት ማነስ፣ አነስተኛ ምርታማነትን እና አስተማማኝ ያልሆነ ገቢን ያስከትልባቸው ነበር።

In the Borena and West Guji zones, a powerful shift is happening! 📈✨ Through our EU-funded EMPOWER project, local youth and women are coming together to transform traditional livestock rearing into thriving, modern businesses.
🛑 Overcoming Livelihood Struggles
Before this initiative, many young entrepreneurs in these area faced significant livelihood struggles. A lack of technical knowledge regarding modern animal management often resulted in low productivity and unpredictable income.

Everything changed with a collective commitment to learn! 🧠🤝 Supported by PIN and its partners, participating youth have embraced comprehensive training in cattle fattening. Together, they have mastered:

🤝 Strengthening humanitarian response in Ethiopia through collaboration!
We launched our EU Humanitarian Aid funded Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) consortium project in North West Tigray, Ethiopia. 🌟 Together, we will provide timely, dignified and needs-based cash assistance to people affected by the crisis. 💼💸
To mark the launch, PIN, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and Save the Children hosted a joint workshop, bringing together representatives from the regional, zonal and woreda (district) levels. 📑🤝 The workshop helped align priorities, strengthen coordination and support collaboration from the outset. 🌍🌱
👥 Accountability to Affected Communities (AAP) Effective humanitarian action starts with listening. 🗣️ Representatives of communities displaced by conflict took part in the workshop, helping ensure that the response reflects people's priorities, needs and feedback from the outset.
By working alongside local authorities, humanitarian partners and communities, we are strengthening a coordinated response that supports people affected by the crisis. 🕊️🔗

🗓️ Over the last two days we took the stage at the Second International Conference on Migration and Forced Displacement Research. 🕊️

🤝 We shared the powerful experiences and lessons learned from our European Union in Ethiopia funded consortium project, implemented in close partnership with Geneva Global and Center of Concern:
“Protecting Displaced Children Through Education in Emergencies in Conflict-Affected Areas of Ethiopia.” 🇪🇹

🛑 Displacement shouldn't mean the end of a child's education. 🎒
💡 This conference served as a vital space to connect with scholars, government ministries, NGOs, and directly affected communities (IDPs, refugees, and returnees) to discuss real, sustainable solutions for peace and development. 🌱🌍

In an article for The Reporter also discusses the findings of a Nutrition Capital Assessment we undertook in the country. The Assessment shows that Ethiopia’s nutrition situation is an investment architecture question. We mark the successful completion of the ECHO Cash Multipurpose Cash Assistance Project, implemented together with our Ethiopian Cash Consortium (ECC) partners. 🤝
The project supported communities across three zones in the Oromia region: East Wollega, East Borana, and Guji. Through three rounds of cash assistance, we reached:
🏠 89,991 households
👥 53,055 individuals
Why cash assistance? 🤔💰
Families are best placed to identify their own priorities. Cash assistance allows people to decide how to use the support according to their urgent needs and circumstances.
Families utilized the assistance to cover their most pressing needs, including:
🌾 Purchasing food
📚 Covering education costs
🏥 Accessing healthcare
👕 Buying clothes
🧼 Purchasing hygiene materials 🕊✨

💼 60 አነስተኛ እና መካከለኛ ኢንተርፕራይዞች (SMEs) ተደግፈዋል፡ ስልጠናው 60 አነስተኛ እና መካከለኛ ኢንተርፕራይዞችን በቀጥታ የሚያጠናክር ሲሆን፣ የአካባቢው ስራ ፈጣሪዎች ከባህላዊ አሰራር ወደ ትርፋማ እና ዘላቂ የንግድ ስራ እንዲሸጋገሩ ያግዛል።
🌱 ሰልጣኞች በአካባቢው ባለው የኢኮኖሚ አቅም ላይ ተመስርቶ የተዘጋጀ የተግባር ልምድ ያገኙ ሲሆን፣ ትኩረቱም በዶሮ እርባታ 🐓፣ በከብት ማድለብ 🐂፣ በወተት 🥛 እና በማር ምርት 🍯 ላይ ነበር።
🏫 5 አጋር ኮሌጆች፡ ይህ ሁለተኛው ዙር ስልጠና ሊሳካ የቻለው ከአምስት የቴክኒክና ሙያ (TVET) ተቋማት ጋር በነበረን ትስስር ነው፤ እነሱም፡ የቡሌ ሆራ፣ የአባያ (ጓንጓ)፣ የቀርጫ፣ ያቤሎ አርብቶ አደር እና የሞያሌ ኮሌጆች ናቸው።

👥 600 Trainees Empowered: 245 male and 355 female trainees have now completed their specialized training paths across the region.
💼 60 SMEs Supported: The training directly strengthens 60 Small and Medium Enterprises, helping local entrepreneurs transition from traditional methods to profitable, sustainable businesses.
🌱 Diverse Value Chains: Trainees gained hands-on experience tailored to their local economic potential, focusing on poultry 🐓, cattle fattening 🐂, dairy 🥛, and honey production 🍯.

Strengthening Partnerships for a Resilient Region🤝✨

We were honored to participate in the Annual Partnership Consultative Forum held in Bahir Dar on April 28–29! 🏛️ Hosted by the Amhara Bureau of Finance, this event brought together government leaders and over 130 CSOs to align our shared mission in addressing the region’s humanitarian needs. 🇪🇹💪

📚 Education in Emergencies (EiE): Alongside our partners Geneva Global and Center of Concern, we showcased how we are returning crisis-affected children to safe learning environments. From school feeding to quality classrooms—every child deserves a seat at the desk! 🎒🏫
