“Gudina Tumsa’s Theology of Church Unity: Biblical Foundations, Ecclesial Vision, and Present-Day Relevance”

Rev. Dr. Samuel Y. Deressa presented a thoughtful exploration of Gudina Tumsa’s theology of church unity, examining its biblical foundations, ecclesial vision, and continuing relevance for the Ethiopian Evangelical Church today.

His presentation invited us to reflect not only on Gudina Tumsa’s legacy, but also on our responsibility to pursue greater unity, common witness, and shared mission.

The final session of the Annual Symposium on “The Prophetic Witness of Gudina Tumsa” is now taking place.

In this closing session, Dr. Samuel Deressa is presenting on the topic:
“Love, Justice and Power: The Niebuhrian Framework of Gudina Tumsa.”

His presentation explores the theological connections and influences that shaped the thought of Gudina Tumsa, offering deeper insight into his intellectual and spiritual legacy.

As we come to the end of this symposium, we reflect with gratitude for the rich discussions and meaningful engagements made possible through the collaboration of Gudina and Tsehay Legacy and Mekane Yesus Seminary.
