๐โ Happy International Workersโ Day (May 1st)
There are days that remind us not only of work but of the human story behind it.
Today is one of those days.
On this International Workersโ Day, we celebrate the quiet strength, resilience, and dignity of workers everywhere especially young people who continue to rise despite uncertainty, displacement, and limited opportunities, yet still dream of decent work and a better future.
For us at Live For Generation Organization, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this reflection is deeply personal.
In Last year October 2025, we completed the SEE-RHCY Project (Socio-Economic Empowerment for Refugee and Host Community Youth) a journey we walked as one of ten partner organizations, alongside the Edukans Foundation Ethiopia | Youth-to-Youth Fund (Y2YF), under the International Labour Organization Horn of Africa PROSPECTS Programme anchored in the principles of the International Labour Organization.
But beyond reports and results, what stays with us are the stories: young refugees and host community youth who showed up with uncertainty in their eyes and left with skills, confidence, and a sense of direction.
We saw transformation in action from employees to entrepreneurs, from job seekers to self-employed young business owners, and from vulnerability to active economic participation.
We saw young people who had been excluded from opportunities begin to imagine themselves as entrepreneurs, workers, and contributors to their communities. We saw hope rebuilt step by step.
We are also grateful for the strategic alignment with Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), and for all financial institutions, local stakeholders, and duty bearers who supported this shared commitment to youth empowerment and livelihood opportunities.
Most importantly, we honor the rights holders themselves the refugee and host community youth whose courage, patience, and determination made this journey meaningful.
Today is not just a celebration of work.
It is a reminder that decent work is dignity, and dignity is a right every young person deserves.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our visionary employees, dedicated volunteers, committed Board members, and all partners whose leadership, service, and collaboration continue to make this impact possible. Your contribution is the foundation of every achievement we celebrate today.
Happy May Day to all workers, dreamers, and changemakers who keep moving forward even when the path is not easy.
