"Bringing Kids Out of Street Life to a Life with Purpose"

Everything MYM does is driving by three simple principles: Love, Serve, Build! We believe that one must first understand the fullness of love in order to move forward in a life of servant others and building lives. Therefore we;
LOVE - People! SERVE - Others! BUILD - Lives! MYM's main target is to bring kids, youth & teenage mothers out of street life to a life with purpose. Our approach is three

fold:

1. INTERVENTION- Move children, youth and young girls from being trafficked and living in the streets; into a loving family environment or sustainable life. Currently there are 3 centers & 6 homes throughout the city of Addis Ababa.

2. PREVENTION- Empower families to keep their children home through provided a holistic approach to sustainability. We are children centered with a family focus.

3. EDUCATE & MOBILIZE- bring every sector in Ethiopia to be a part of the solution for children living in the streets.

Trauma may have shaped their story…

But it does not get to define it.

Because we serve a God who restores.

A God who sees every hidden wound.
A God who draws near to the brokenhearted.
A God who makes all things new.

What we are witnessing in these boys…

Is not just behavior change.

It’s heart healing.

It’s identity being rebuilt.

It’s truth replacing lies like:
“I’m alone.”
“I’m not worth loving.”
“I have to fight for everything.”

And replacing it with:
💛 “I am seen.”
💛 “I am safe.”
💛 “I am loved.”

Today… he laughed.

Like a real laugh.

The kind that comes from deep inside.

And for a moment…
he wasn’t the boy who had to survive the streets.

He was just a kid.

Free.
Light.
Safe.

You might see a simple moment.

But we see a breakthrough.

Because when a child who has known trauma…
begins to feel joy again…

That is healing.

That is restoration.

This week is week TWO of trauma healing.

And something beautiful is happening…

The walls are still there.

But they’re starting to crack.

Through:
• Safe conversations
• Consistent care
• Gentle guidance
• And people who don’t give up on them

Our boys are learning something new:

They are safe now.

And that changes everything.

Healing isn’t loud.

It’s in the small moments:
✨ A longer conversation
✨ A smile that wasn’t there before
✨ Sitting closer than yesterday

This is how healing begins.

በአንዳንድ ቤቶች ፍቅር በብዛት ይፈስሳል፤ በሌሎች ግን ልጆች ያለ ወላጆች ለማደግ እየተገደዱ ናቸው።

እነዚህ ልጆች እንጀራ ብቻ አይደለም ሚያስፈልጋቸው፤
ቦታ፣ ፍቅር፣ የሚጠራቸው እና የሚሰበስባቸው ቤት ይፈልጋሉ።

እግዚአብሔር በእኛ በኩል ብቸኞችን በቤተሰብ ያኖራል!

He wouldn’t look anyone in the eyes.

When he first came to the JOY Center,
he kept his distance… always watching… always guarded.

If someone got too close,
he would either shut down… or lash out.

Not because he was “difficult.”

Because he was hurt.

Because somewhere along the way,
the people who were supposed to protect him… didn’t.

So he built walls.

Walls that said:
“No one gets in.”
“Don’t trust.”
“Stay ready.”

This is what trauma does.

It teaches children to protect themselves…
even when they don’t need to anymore.

Thank you for your continual support that is setting kids free. We@couldn’t do what we do without you.

Most people don’t understand what trauma does to a child.

It doesn’t just live in their memories… It lives in their bodies.

It looks like:
• Anger that comes out of nowhere
• Silence that feels like distance
• Distrust… even when you’re trying to help

Because when a child has had to fight to survive… Their brain learns one thing:

“Stay alive at all costs.”

Not:
“Feel safe.”
Not:
“Trust people.”

Just survive.

And many of our boys have lived this way for years.

This is why trauma healing matters.

This is why your support matters.

Because healing doesn’t happen by accident.

We are so grateful for your support. 🤍

Some of our boys who graduate the JOY Center don’t have a safe home to return to.
So instead… they move into our PLF Families—where they are known, loved, and given a place to belong.

Last week, some of these boys got to go out and simply have fun.

To laugh. To be kids. To experience joy in a way many of them never have before.

And it’s because of you.

Because you showed up.

Because you gave.

Because you chose to be part of their story.

This past weekend, something really special began—and it’s because of you.

Eight of our KC girls and three staff members have started training in designing and tailoring bags. What may look like a simple skill is actually a doorway to dignity, confidence, and future income.

And the beautiful part?

This only happens because you said yes.

Because you give…
Because you show up…
Because you choose to be part of their story…

These girls now have the opportunity to learn, create, and begin building something of their own.

This training will continue every weekend over the next two months, and already we are seeing joy, excitement, and confidence come alive in new ways.

You are not just funding a program.

You are placing tools in their hands.

You are restoring hope.

You are helping rewrite what their future can look like.

We are just $3,079 away from providing 12,000 meals to children and families in Ethiopia through Make Your Mark Global.
