🚀 Empowering Future Water Champions: Drop of Water Sponsors the June, 2026 Bahir Dar University Job & Start-Up Fair!

Organized by the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT), Bahir Dar University, the event united university leaders, employers from the WASH sector, both from Government and private, and graduating students to help support creativity, entrepreneurship, and employment.

This initiative was driven by our Aware, Activate, and Change (AAC) Project, implemented in partnership with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Hilton Foundation across four universities in Ethiopia. By investing in young people, we are cultivating the catalysts needed for lasting social and environmental change.

💡This event was sponsored with the objective to developing a new generation of Water Champions by:
💧Raising awareness around WASH challenges.
💧Building student leadership and advocacy for sustainable community solutions.
💧Improving career readiness by connecting students directly with sector employers and professional networks.

We are deeply honored that during the opening ceremony, the President of the DoW Bahir Dar University Chapter received a Certificate of Recognition from the University President, celebrating our partnership and sponsorship.

✨ From a University Movement to an International organization: DoW Turns 17!💧✨

Looking back on nearly two decades of growth, we are proud of how far this vision has traveled. While our roots will always be in the youth-led movement that started in 2009, our branches are now reaching further than ever before.

To date, we have successfully provided clean water access to over 100,000 people across Ethiopia. For an organization that began as a small group of passionate students, these numbers represent more than just statistics, they represent unwavering dedication.

This year is also special as we celebrate our evolution from a local initiative to an international advocate. By establishing DoW USA Chapter, we are amplifying our voice and building the global partnerships necessary to sustain our mission.✨✨

We are living proof that when you nurture youth passion, extraordinary things happen. Today, we are replicating our success across more universities through our Aware-Activate-Change (AAC) programs. We are equipping the next generation of leaders with the tools to stand behind this mission and tackle the water crisis.

As we look toward the next 17 years and beyond, we remain committed to our Vision, always!✨💧

Transforming Passion into Action at BiT Poly Campus! 💧🛠️

We recently wrapped up a two-day capacity-building workshop for our BDU Chapter Ambassadors!
Held from April 14–15 at the Bahir Dar University, Poly Campus, this session was all about equipping the next generation of water champions with the tools they need to make a tangible difference.

The workshop went into the topics of:
✅ WASH Concepts & DoW Solutions: Mastering the technical and social frameworks of water and sanitation.
✅Volunteerism: Cultivating a spirit of service and community ownership.
✅Project Management: Building the professional skills necessary to lead impactful missions.

By analyzing real world water scenarios, these students are evolving from volunteers into Water Champions. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to solving one of our most pressing challenges.

AAU, you were AMAZING! 🙌

We just spent two unforgettable days with the students of Addis Ababa University as part of our Aware, Activate, Change program. Your energy, commitment, and passion for making a difference truly blew us away!

From introducing the work we do at DoW to playing games and connecting with the students, every moment was great.

Big thanks to AAU for being such gracious hosts and The Students that helped us organize this event.

We are excited to continue working with this brilliant community. This is just the beginning! 💧💪

Igniting Minds at AMU Community School! 💡💪

On Wednesday, April 1st, the DoW AMU team conducted a successful awareness creation program at the AMU Community School.

It was amazing to see the students' engagement and the excitement shown during the session.

Sustainability is more than a goal, it's a practice. By engaging with our youth today, we ensure the impact of our initiatives lasts for generations.

🌟Making Waves in Arba Minch! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the first official event of DoW Arba Minch Chapter!

🌍💧 To mark World Water Day, DoW AMU partnered with Arba Minch University to host celebrations and awareness-building events centered around the theme of "Water and Gender". The day also featured a panel discussion that explored the intersection of resource access and gender equity. 🤝

There is nothing quite like seeing a vision come to life and seeing this team fully formed, up and running, and working hard to create impact is a moment of immense pride for the entire Drop of Water family. 👏

In many rural communities in Ethiopia, water isn’t something you turn on—it’s something you walk for.

This March, our Project of the Month Club is supporting Drop of Water, a locally led organization building protected spring wells within one kilometer of at-risk households.

Bringing safe water closer to home helps reduce long daily walks and returns time for school, family, and childhood—reaching about 500 people in nearby villages.

As their team shared, support like this allows locally rooted organizations to respond where needs are greatest and create impact that extends far beyond a single project.

They say that when you educate a girl, you change the world. In the communities we serve, the first step to making that change a reality is simple: Access to Clean Water. 💧

Every year, women and girls spend hundreds of thousands of hours walking to collect water; time that belongs in the classroom, in the marketplace, or in the pursuit of their dreams.

👏 This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the resilient women in our community who navigate these challenges every day. At DoW, our mission is to lend a hand by easing this burden, creating the space for every woman to explore her full potential.

Clean water isn’t just about survival; it’s about opportunity. This past Sunday was a celebration of progress, but our work continues every day to ensure that a lack of water never stands in the way of a woman’s future. 💧✨
