EECMY DASSC Successfully Conducted Its 22nd Regular General Assembly | June 17, 2026

On June 17, 2026, EECMY DASSC successfully conducted its 22nd Regular General Assembly, bringing together members to review achievements, strengthen accountability, and set strategic directions for the coming year.

The Assembly was officially opened and chaired by Rev. Dr. Yonas Yigezu, President of EECMY and Chairperson of the EECMY DASSC General Assembly, who delivered an opening address emphasizing commitment, stewardship, and continued service to communities.

During the session, Mr. Solomon Shiferaw, Commissioner of EECMY DASSC, presented the organization’s major achievements and key interventions implemented during the year, highlighting progress across different program areas.

The Assembly was also honored by the presence of Mr. Hailesilassie G. Michael, Representative of the Federal Authority for Civil Society Organizations, who delivered remarks on the direction and expectations for Civil Society Organizations in Ethiopia.

Furthermore, the General Assembly reviewed and discussed:
• The 2025 Annual Audit Report
• The 2025 Annual Activity Report
• The 2026 Annual Operational Plan

Following thorough deliberations, the Assembly approved the reports and plans presented.

The Assembly concluded after productive discussions on various organizational matters, reaffirming EECMY DASSC’s commitment to accountability, effective service delivery, and strengthening its mission of serving communities.

EECMY-DASSC, in collaboration with ELM Hermannsburg Partner in Mission, successfully conducted training sessions on Women’s Land Rights (WLR) and Gender Justice in South Oromia, West Guji Zone, Kercha Woreda. The trainings were delivered across five kebeles: Egu Abayi, Lami Karcha, Banko Michicha, Gurachu Jaldu, and Lami Borotu. The training covered Evangelical theological perspectives, cultural issues, and women’s legal rights.

EECMY-DASSC-AAS-BO successfully conducted its annual experience-sharing meeting with 40 key community representatives, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), and government authorities.

The meeting provided a valuable platform to discuss ground-level barriers, challenges, and lessons learned from disability inclusion practices. The presentation mainly focused on sharing successful experiences and best practices from countries outside Ethiopia, enabling participants to learn from international approaches to disability inclusion and community engagement.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, exchanged ideas, and reflected on how the lessons learned could be adapted to the local context. The event strengthened collaboration among stakeholders and enhanced understanding of effective disability inclusion strategies.

🌟 Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign at Abyssinia High School, Addis Ababa!
Yesterday, a vibrant and impactful awareness event was held at Abyssinia High School to combat human trafficking a serious issue affecting many young people in our community and across Ethiopia.
Through inspiring songs, poems, choreography, and short theater performances, the students boldly raised their voices, calling for an end to this modern-day slavery
Religious leaders also played a key role, delivering strong and inspiring messages. They urged the students to value their homeland and pursue their dreams right here in Ethiopia, reminding everyone that:
“The grass is not always greener on the other side… it is greener wherever you water it!”
The event was successfully organized by EECMY-DASSC -AAS-BO in collaboration with the Ujamaa Centre, South Africa.
We call upon all young people, parents, teachers, and community leaders to join this movement. Let us protect our youth, reject false promises from traffickers, and create safer communities together 💪

The EECMY-DASSC EAWEOQM project conducted a Training of Trainers on Positive, Transformative Masculinity for its staff from June 3–4, 2026 at Aya Hotel, Addis Ababa. The training brought together participants from the Head Office (HO), Area Offices (AO), Branch Offices (BO), and Project levels of EECMY-DASSC.

🌱 From Firewood Burden to Green Hope

Thanks to the Gulele Women Economic Empowerment Project (GWEEP), vulnerable women around Entoto Forest are transforming their lives.
No longer forced to carry heavy loads of firewood over long distances, 164 women are now engaged in urban farming and small businesses. With the successful completion of a hand-dug well equipped with a hand-operated pulley system, they now have reliable water access throughout the year.
This has enabled them to farm three times a year, growing potatoes, cabbage, carrots, kale, and more significantly boosting their income, improving food security, and creating better opportunities for their children.

The project is also helping protect Entoto Forest by reducing deforestation pressure.
Together, we are empowering women, restoring the environment, and building brighter futures.

Today, EECMY-DASSC Enhance Advocacy Women Empowerment Organizational Quality Management Project conducted a high-level consultation on the meaningful participation of women in Leadership and Decision-making position at the Best Western Premier Hotel, Addis Ababa.

EECMY-DASSC-AAS-BO successfully completed an inspiring two-day Project Review and Leadership Training for 12 active projects.

Each day began with devotion, prayer, and sharing of the Word of God, creating a Spirit-filled atmosphere.
Project leaders passionately presented their progress, highlighting planned activities against achievements, remarkable successes, key challenges, and valuable lessons learned from the field.

Together, participants charted a way forward through collaborative strategies aimed at improving project performance and expanding their reach empowering communities at large, especially women, children, and persons with disabilities.
On the second day, leaders were further energized by impactful training on Transformative and Adaptive Leadership, equipping them with fresh skills to lead with greater vision and effectiveness.
It was a spiritually refreshing and productive gathering. We sincerely thank all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions.
Together in faith and action for greater impact!
